Hello everyone... I am new to the scene and I was hoping someone can help me come up with a system for gaming and for my renderings... I use photoshop and a few 3d rendering programs a lot for my hobby. I was hoping for a smooth system that can handle the processing load. I have a toshiba monitor and use a wacom intous 5 drawing pad for everything... and unfortunately I am on a tight budget.
Please... someone help me with some ideas... I have heard a lot about DS and i must admit that i am impressed... thank you |

Welcome to the forums budakia!
If you could provide us with your budget and monitor(s) resolution that would help us put together a build that fits your needs. Also, if you have already started configuring a system you can post it in configuration discussion to receive feedback from other forum members. |

I have a 26" Toshiba set at 1360 x 768 60hz 16:9 ratio
That is all I could really tell you. I would like to keep my budget at around $1500.00... because I need to get a few other things like an external hard drive, My hobby is airbrushing and I always do renderings and photo manipulations in adobe photoshop.... this is the main reason i need something with some power.... Thank you for relying and helping me with this, |

Hi budakia... Welcome to the forums.
For your budget I would recommend one of the pre-built sysems because they do offer more for the money. The Marauder level 4, ODE level 1 and Bolt level 3 fall within your budget and are real nice syatems. The difference.... The Marauder 4 is the cheapest. The ODE 1 for another $200 gives you a better case, a better graphics card that's about 20% better in gaming than the 660Ti , and cpu overclocking. Oc'ing is a cheap way to get a boost in performance and your apps would appreciate the added clock speed. The Bolt level 3 has the avantage of the i7-3770k cpu over the others. For your renderings, etc. the 3770k with its Hyperthreading gives you a 4 core chip with 8 threads for faster processing over the 3570k's 4 core, 4 thread in the other builds. To stay in budget with the Bolt 3 , you could drop the SSD, and Blu-ray player for DVD player. Here's another config just to show you some options. It's over budget but the X79 Sabertooth motherboard is a quad channel memory board as opposed to the others Z77 dual channel ram. The quad channel has a 256 bit memory buss, the Z77 boards a 128 bit memory buss. Theoretically twice the speed but in reality about 20-30% or better by some estimates. Its also has 16GB ram. The wider memory bandwidth will make your renderings smoother. It all depends on what level you render, Photoshop, special effects, etc. And budget of course. You really can't go wrong with any of them. They will all give you what you want, just that some options have a bit better components. It's all good. Hope this helps and good luck. Edited by bprat22 - 02 Jan 2013 at 6:14am |
