I am not sure if you are a AMD and ATI fan so I am sorry if you take offense to this (as some people do)

1.the AMD phenoms are a waist of money when compared to the new Intel i7s. The i7s are way better. and you can get a killer i7 rig that fits in both your price ranges,

2...pretty much the same with ATI, you do not need SLI/crossfire for a 21" monitor. And the Nvidia cards preform much better then there ATI competition. Also I am unsure if this is an issue for you or not but the new ATI cards have very loud fans. Louder even then the Nvidia GTX cards.

First build. (Note I kept you with the 950Si case. However if wanted you could go with the HAF 932 and save more money. And the HAF932 has as good if not better air flow.

Build #2. I used the higher budget to give you more/faster RAM the RAZER sound card. And upgraded the warranty. Oh also added another 500GB HDD (however you could also do that for the lower priced rig too if you wanted)

Now its worth pointing out a few things as far as why I went with what I did.

1.As already stated the 1TB HDDs are a big pain. They take a very long time to virus scan, and can just be a pain to keep organized in general. So I opted for x2 500s.

2. On board sound has gotten ALOT better. And a sound card these days are no longer a requirment. So buying one of the more expensive sound cards is a big waist.

3. the GTX 275 will be great for a 21" and if you ever buy a bigger monitor and and start running 1900/1200 resolution then you can upgrade easily by getting another GTX275 and going SLI.

I think even with the cheaper build you will be VERY happy. Both builds will give you MUCH more performance then you're AMD/ATI build (No offense please..)

12 GB is pointless, same with 1600mHz, there is no way a gamer will ever use 12Gb and there is no visible differance b/w 1333 and 1600 except COST.

To be honest I found it hard to improve on my first build. However I wanted to give him a suggestion for both budgets stated.

Its also worth noting that even with the extra RAM it still fits well within his 2nd budget.

It doesnt matter if it fits his budget.  A waste of money is still a waste of money regardless of wether its in your budget or not.  Also your system isnt in his possible 2500 price range.  Usually a budget means up to not over.

12 gigs of ram will show improvements out side of gaming, is it a great option NO. However as I said It is well under his budget. If he does not want to go with it then that is fine. We all make our own suggestions. And you are free to criticize mine all you want. However you can not deny that both are great builds that fit his budget/s.

Also worth noting that in his own words "but if I don't then i will be getting a comp around 2,500$"   My first build is $2592.00 If you feel that is not around $2500 then..well okay..

I also kept the 950si case, however suggested he could go with the HAF932 (If that 92 bucks is pushing it.) and he would then be under his stated $2500.00

I guess I could have said that in a different order. And included the HAF932 in my build(putting him under $2500) and simply said he could go with the 950si if he wanted..though in the end I would be suggesting the same thing.

@ tenwen, your 8GB of ram is a waste of money you will never use it. 1 x 4870X2 is a waste of money for you, let along 2 of them, you got so much waste of money in there that I would pretty much have to post everything you picked. the things you picked not only will they not help you but they can actually hurt your performance.

@ B@d//j0ke, I'm with you most times man but 12GB of ram is pointless and waster of money, 1600MHz ram is a waste of money also, just fyi.

Hey thats fair enough. We all have our suggestions.

I believe if everyone suggested the exact same build 100% of the time and recommended the exact same brand/s then this forum would be a waist of time.

The link to this forum is called "Configuration Discussion" not  "Good vs Bad" lol.

I think hearing about other peoples suggestions and why they feel there best or better is what makes this forum so enlightening.

well you have to take into account that 12GB will never be used, so its a waste of money thus bad.

if its a waste of my money and I will not see any performacne gain from it, then its bad advise.

i dont agree getting an AMD is a waste of money if u want AMD go AMD i know lots of ppl who are gaming (high end gaming mind u) with the older athlon series and are happy so go with what u want. *** an AMD cpu not intel holds the World record for highest benchmarking score.

go with the faster memory over quantity u can always add more when the time comes
most ppl never need more than 6 GB anyways. GO with the 4890 its much better than the others, i believe its right behing the 275 Gtx, and you can add another when its time to upgrade, The UV green is really the only color DS has thats worth getting UV green kinda looks like toxic waste but if u want blue go head 2. This one will take care of u for  your 2,500 price range

$4000 range this is what i think u should go with. the 2 4890s will take care of  your 21 inch monitor and almost any monitor upgrades ure going 2 use. LC the video cards for the overall lower temps. The vertex SSD witll kill your load times unless u want the 500GB HDD till the prices drops. the killer NIC card will drop your ping this is only if u do lots of online gaming otherwise id skip it and you get the sound card. THis will take care of any gaming needs for the next 5-6 years till games that really use phys-x properly come out at that time the newer cards will be out and running any you may want to upgrade your video cards

Here, I took into consideration the fact that you using a 21" monitor, heres your 4k budget build, it actually leaves you with enough (about) to upgrade to a larger monitor with a larger resolution, and those graphics cards will be enough to pwoer a higher resolution (clearance pricing ftw)  If you wanted, you could downgrade your sound card to the razer one, and maybe save the extra money or add the LCD fan display for the extra bling factor, its up to you, you said you wanted it to look cool :].  Note I didnt add any colors on the LED's or watercooling tubes because Everyones opinions are different.

oh..Im not sure if the sound card will fit with 3 GPU's, although you have enough leway to upgrade to the classified mo/bo and still be very close to $4k
tell me what you think?

EDIT: you could save even more money and go with 3 SLI GTX 375's and upgrade to a larger monitor still.

guys the user has 1600 x 1200 monitor he likes to use. anything over a single 275 is waste and he will not see any performance improvements at all, so 295, sli, or crossfire or dual cards are not going to give him any improvment at all.

whenever he upgrades he can then add a second 275 which will cost less, rather then paying full price for a card that he has no use for right now.

I was just coming back to correct myself and say what DST4ME just said, my bad my pc glitched or something, and it said that 3x SLI GTX 280 was only $330? it was weird.

I was also going to suggest that if he wanted to spend $4000 on a pc then he could get the GPU upgrade and get a new monitor if he pleased, I was going to say get it from DSO,  But Newegg has a beter selection of course.

for monitors and such newegg is better, for GPU also, which is why we recommend only what the user needs now, allowing them to save money by getting the next GPU later when its cheaper and from newegg, just as you said.

as for you config, showed up with a single 295, perhaps there is a glitch

it has happened to me many times where I config one thing and then the ticket turns out to be some $13000 system that has nothing to do with what I configed

Hey guys, I appericate all the help but I also have a few more questions.

1. I was wondering i want to keep my 250 GB Hard Drive from my old comp has im lazy and dont want to reinstall all games as most of them i downloaded online. So iwas wondering can i just plug that in and it will be ready to play and stuff or do i have to do some special setup to make the hard drive work as this hard drive is a bit old like 2-3 years old.

2. The only reason I took the amd proccessor and ati cards is because its a bit cheaper then the i7 and i like all the extra gadgets :P, But an intel wouldnt be bad. Also I probably will be upgrading my monitor in 2-3 months to probably a 30'.

3. I was also going to with the graphic card liquid cooled because it would be more tubes and it would look more beast but thats just me i want my comp to look like a beast as well perform well. So i was wondering how hard is it to liquid cool graphic cards and change the liquid? Also when would i need to change the liquid? and what about the liquid if the system leaks wouldnt it break all my nice motherboards and stuff on the inside with the water?

4. Also no one is offending me with choosing intel as ive used intel mostly my whole life never had an amd proccessor before but i did a little reseach and it seems like the amd has the highest bench mark scores. So really what is true and why does the amd have the best benchmark scores if the intel is better?

5. Also I will be brininging probably my old wireless card from my desktop to this new comp so will the computer still have room if i get 2 275's, and a x/fi fatility sound card?

6. Also I am concerned about how hard this system would be to to restore to factory settings like with if u buy a comp from dell u can do a factory image restore and your comp will be good as new in 15 mins, does digtail storm have that as well or would i have to re install each part and everything all over again?

1. i couldnt tell you about the hard drive, but i sure you could
2. the amd's fine but you may need 3 cards to run the 30 inch at its highest res. the unspoken rule is amd usually goes with ati cards and nividia goes with intel, but it doesnt have to be that way.
3 theres new innovation with the video cards which allwos you 2 change the liquid easier, yes the more tubes will look better, youd have to open the cpu and check the tank and top it off(if u like i can send you a thread to show u 100's of LC cpus UV and everything else) finally the liquids non conductive (leaks are rare) so unless u let it sit no dmg will be done
4 the highest recorded benchmark is with the amd i posted  it in one of my threads it was LC with hydrogen or nitro. The i7 is the better cpu overall no1 chose to do the intel that ive seen maybe it cant OC that high mayber u cant LC nitro on it who knows
5.the standard EVGA board only has 2 x 16 pci slots the classified has more  the regular evga should be able to run those cards but u prob wont have room to upgrade maybe the classifed your better choice its the better board and will give u higher OC's
6 DS has a restart CD ud have to ask them but i dont think it restores persay factory settings prob DS customized setting ask sarah or james

Ps if u want the website give me your email and ill mail it 2 you to view at your leisure i've already done so for some1 else

1. you cant transfer the old os to the new system, you have reinstall.

2. the difference between amd and intel is gonna endup being like $200 yet you get 4GB of ram with amd but intel will give you 6GB at the end its your choice.

3. you can LC the gpu if you like, just make sure to ask DS to use the quick-release valves so that you can upgrade easier.

4. benchmarks don't represent real time use, you can get high benchmarks with fast ram and fast HDD but in games you will see very little difference between them.

5. tri sli 275 will not leave room for your sound card and etc, on the amd, you might need to go with intel and classified.

6. yes DS will have an image saved for you on a dvd or cd.

heres that quote on the amd having the highest benchmark recirded

@tenwen are you talking about moving your old files or yoru os,insalled appes and games?

you do understand that benchmarks have nothing to do with real life performance right?
