So i called the store. 1-866-817-8676. 11:02am From houston Tx. and they seem to be closed. I just have a general question. I was thinking about a alienware 9750
CPU-2.0 and just one video card and i went to there forums and it seems that alot of NV cards are going bad. over heating. I have been out of the computer scene a long time and am running a 1.7 P4 15in laptop that is f**ked as sh*t. So I see that http://www.digitalstormonline.com/laptoploadsaved.asp?id=169870 this DM17 for $2,200 is coming in sept. I just wanted to know if anyone knows what day they will start selling them? Hows the ATI card that comes with it? I would like the AW for $1,600 but I am wondering if I should spend the extra $700 because of all the NV problems. I got $1,200 cash and was not sure if I need to put a down payment if I could/need to as to not get back ordered. Edited by Rikudou - 11 Sep 2008 at 12:14pm |

That a bit much for me. A few things you have to understand. I just lost everything in my life and filed chapter 7. My laptop that I have now is a 15 in 1.7 P4 with 1gb of ram. It just now broke. It was making hissing sounds with the sound card. and the power plug never stays on unless I weight it down. Having said that. Thats a bit much for me. I work about 84-90 hour a week. I just want something that will play Star craft 2 and Diablo 3. Maybe some Command and Conquer. The only other thing is side FX Houdini. I will wait for my power house to be my home system.
Some of them pointed me to this item. http://store.apple.com/us/product/TK651LL/A#overview so I should not have any heat problems. |

don't waste your money and time on any of those, none of those realy help unless you are leaving your laptop on the bed.
I have tested bunch of those coolers and they don't do nothing. |

First, don't go with alienware. I have an area 51m and hate it. Their customer service sux too. Well, unless you can speak I think puerto rican. They couldn't understand me very well anyway. I have a strong California accent with a Missouri drawl.
Second, if you can find a way to get a quad core, go that route. I play Command & Conquer a lot and there are times when 2GB ram and a dual core aren't enough. I know it's not my graphics card limiting me anymore since my upgrade. I'm pretty sure Starcraft 2 will make use of quad cores since RTS games are going to run AI and global info, etc. Lots of different processes going on. Diablo 3 will be similar in running AI processes. As far as the graphics card, it's good, but the native resolution for that screen is pretty high in relationship to the capabilites of that card. I would go crossfireX with that card instead, or see what other options DSO has. I know how hard it is to figure in budget vs performance, and in the end it comes to what you can afford. Hence, my budget system LOL! ![]() Anyway, the card is fine, but you will have to play on lower resolution in order to avoid lagging the game. You will find that you will also need to turn down other graphics features of the games. I would try to go with a quad core cpu though for best playability of the games you like. Right now, I'm doing alright with a dual core, but Starcraft 2 will prolly be problematic for me. |

Well, My mom PC (this one is) has a amd 3500+ 2.20 with 1.5gb of ram. This plays C/C just fine. I'm not one of those hard core gamers that need super high res with all the eye candy that more often then not my eyes can't see or my monitor can't put out any ways. I just need a dual core I'm sure of it. Price is also a problem. But I think the DM 17 is a good start then i can upgrade it later on if I really feel the need.
I Just can't see video games needing 4 cores to run a game with normal setting. Its more of less going to be used for XSI as well. A learning rig. I get your hint on AW. (edit) can you tell me more about the crossfireX cards? Edited by Rikudou - 12 Sep 2008 at 9:41am |
