To be used for gaming at 1920 x 1200, mostly FPS, a little RTS. Also to be used as my daily machine.  Budget is about $2500 and I am at $2379 now.

I probably won't expand to SLI/crossfire in the future.

Any suggestions? Anybody feel strongly about AMD over Nvidia? Is it worth $200 upgrading the video card?

Hi MikeS... Your build is all quality parts, from the Air540, my pick if I was buying right one, to the excellent Sabertooth mobo with its 5 year warranty and the psu, and drives.   If possible, I would up to the gtx 780 if more games on max settings is important.   The gtx 770 will play most games with your monitor at High to Max.

I prefer Nvidia over AMD mainly because of AMD's driver issues in the past. However, AMD does give you a card with similar performance for less money.   I still like Nvidia.

I agree with bprat22 that upgrading to the 780 will give you an extra boost that you'll probably want in the future (considering you said you don't want to go SLI/CrossFire).

As far as AMD vs NVIDIA drivers, there may have been issues in the past but as of lately, we haven't seen any issues with the new drivers they have been putting out. It really comes down to which feature set you want (GSYC vs Mantle) etc.

Thanks.

I picked the overclocked 770 because it was listed as an EVGA branded card.  The others don't list a manufacturer.  Are they just Nvidia reference cards?  I think the third party vendors use more effective, quieter coolers in general and I would rather have an ASUS, EVGA or other manufacturer's card than a generic Nvidia.

There isn't really a reference 770 cooler. We will use a ASUS/EVGA/PNY card depending on what stock we have. They each have their own cooler.
