Topic: Need New MonitorPosted: 26 Feb 2010 at 9:40am |

We got our new PC about six months ago. Since then, we have had nothing but issues with our flat-screen Dell monitor. It will go off and then not turn back on, etc. It's been VERY annoying. We currently have a much older, smaller monitor hooked up, since it works and the Dell doesn't. So, we are looking to get a new monitor. Unfortuantely I don;t have the specs for our machine, but I am wondering on any monitor recommendations for these Digital Storm PC's. Thanks.

Just run this: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php and it will give you your specs. Totally safe. But of course I don't know if you mean you don't know or are like at the office at the moment. LOL.

WRONG. You are completely incorrect. For example, I just ran CPU-Z on my system and it provided:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Windows Vista Ultimate Edition SP2 (Build 6002)
CPU Arch : 1 CPU - 4 Cores - 4 Threads
CPU PSN : Intel Core2 Quad CPU @ 2.40GHz CPU EXT : MMX, SSE (1, 2, 3, 3S), EM64T, VT-x CPUID : 6.F.7 / Extended : 6.F CPU Cache : L1 : 4 x 32 / 4 x 32 KB - L2 : 2 x 4096 KB Core : Kentsfield (65 nm) / Stepping : B3 Freq : 2399.91 MHz (266.66 * 9)
MB Brand : EVGA
MB Model : 132-YW-E179-FTW NB : NVIDIA nForce 790i SLI SPP rev B1 SB : NVIDIA nForce 790i SLI MCP rev A3 GPU Type : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260
GPU Clocks : Core 590 MHz / RAM 999 MHz DirectX Version : 11.0 RAM : 4096 MB DDR3 Dual Channel
RAM Speed : 666.6 MHz (4:10) @ 9-9-9-24 Slot 1 : 2048MB (10700) Slot 1 Manufacturer : Mushkin Slot 2 : 2048MB (10700) Slot 2 Manufacturer : Mushkin I was just trying to give the guy some help finding his specs. I thought CPUID.COM would provide him a quick and easy way to get his specs. It isn't the only way. But it does give you your specs quickly and easily. Because he didn't just say he needed his GPU. He said he didn't know his specs. But I was even laughing when I offered him help, because I wasn't sure if he actually didn't know or just wasn't by his PC. Not everybody has their specs memorized. But I didn't want to be a jerk and just act like I assumed he was a novice. That is GPU information. CPU-Z provides GPU information under the "graphics" tab initially and then further GPU information upon validation.
And my post didn't actually say just CPU-Z. It said go to the CPUID website. There in the version history table he would have found that CPU-Z since 7/20/2009 has a new design with "Graphics" tab.
But since you asked. Here is a little program for only the GPU. There are other ways to get your specs including your GPU, like CPU-Z, but this is fun too:
It's called GPU-Z. Here is the description:
Here is the download.

@amm240, you don't need to install anything, just tell us what graphic card you have.

Monstromo & DST4ME, this the forums isn't a place for us to have conflicting arguments. Both of your responses are correct and either can help provide video card specs. CPU-Z will give additional info whereas GPU-Z will only provide GPU info.
We're closely watching the posts and I want to emphasize, any name calling again will result in a ban from our forums. Edited by Alex - 28 Feb 2010 at 5:05pm |
