Hi bbaisw,
I second the Linksys. I have an older one with updated software and it still works with all of my devices. That includes my eight year old laptop and a brand new smart phone. Their Easy Link software makes it easy to see your system graphically and what device is connected to your system. Overall just a good system. Frank |

Well, just to add another voice to the pile, I third the Linksys (I promose we aren't on commission
). I've owned a few, and we use them at work. I'm currently using the WRT160n at home. Never had too many problems with them, especially compared to other brands such as D-Link, etc.

I'm gonna 4th on Linksys too. I have an old one that has worked perfect for years but it's so old that it does not support a Gigabit connection required for today's high speed internet. I was unable to get all the speed out of my 50mbs service.
On that note I bought the D-Link high speed gaming wired/wireless combo router a few months ago and it's already giving me issues and D-Link refuses to do anything, saying it's my internet that's the problem when I know it is not. The router just randomly stops working a few times a day. The connection will come back after about 10 minutes on it's own or will come back if I reboot the router. I've found that same complaint posted on a lot of different forums for D-Link routers. When I have the money I'll be getting a new Linksys. |

I've decided on going with either the Linksys E4200 or the Asus RT-N56U. Anybody have any experience with the Asus?

Sorry to be the negative nancy but I personally hate Linksys routers.. Ive had 3 of them, starting with the well known wrt54g which worked for years. It was fine I guess, although it did disconnect quite often. Then it died and I upgraded to the most expensive linksys router at the time, (like 2 years ago) I forgot which model.. but it was about $180. That router died quickly.. then I had it replaced with another one of the same model.. that one also died quickly.. I gave up on Linksys and wen to the Netgear 3700 and have had no issues.

I ran the Wt54g for a long time and replaced it with the Linksys e3000 for the gb ports. I have ran this router for at least 2 years now and have no issues with it.
