Hi everyone it's been a while since I've been here. Having way too much fun with my lynx Pc.

I just have a question:

I need a new C drive SSD that windows 10 is on. so do I just unhook the internal SSD and put the new SSD and then use the thumb drive that the PC came with to Download everything ?

Because my SSD is having a hard time. It says I have any where between 17.5GB's to 236MB.

at this point I'm just looking to replace it. I tried to remove programs I no longer use. And it really doesn't fix the problem, I still can't figure out what program is using all my SSD space.

So yeah looking to replace and was wondering if that is all I have to do.

Yes, that will do it. Be sure the old drive is inactive, and then go into your bios to make the thumb drive your boot drive. You may not have to do that. In the absence of any other bootable drive, it may boot from the thumb drive by default. I'm sure there are instructions on that drive how to proceed from there. If you encounter any difficulties, DS tech assistance is lifetime, so just get them on the phone and they will walk you thru.

ok cool thank you just have to basically inactivate the old C drive. then boot thumbdrive ( may have to go into Bios) okay..

I just have one more question: I can use a SAMSUNG 870 EVO SATA III SSD 1TB 2.5” Internal Solid State Drive, in a ASUS PRIME H310M-A R2.0 I should be alright, right ?

That is what I found in my research and just wondering if I found the right info.

sorry for the double post.

Sigh I don't have the MS key that came with my pc and I will need that to finish my setup data off the thumb drive.

I guess I'll be cloning My C Drive to another drive, I have a 1TB Sata III SSD coming in and a 2TB NVMe coming in. I'm thinking to put it on my 1 TB and hope I can get at least 4 years out of it.

since I can't start from scratch.. lol

I checked and you have 4 SATA 6GB connectors. You can place the SSD anywhere in the back (there might be areas stamped in the case and ready for 2.5" SSDs) That is a mATX mobo so kind of limited in connectors.

Good luck.

No need to clone.

As of Windows 10 -- at least newer versions -- Microsoft assigns a digital license (even if you use a physical sticker product key) that's primarily tied to the motherboard.

How to boot the system from USB flash drive/CD-ROM | ASUS (Support)

With that noted, however...

From what I recall, the USB thumb/flash drive supplied by Digital Storm contains a recovery image.

To restore or recover using the recovery drive:

1. Connect the recovery drive and turn on your PC.

2. Press Windows logo key + L to get to the sign-in screen, and then restart your PC by pressing the Shift key while you select the Power button > Restart in the lower-right corner of the screen.

3. Your PC will restart in the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE).

4. On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot, and then select one of the following two options. (If you don’t see the Choose an option screen, your PC might not be set up to boot from a drive. Check your PC manufacturer’s website for info on how to change your PC’s boot order.)

• To reinstall Windows 10, select Advanced Options > Recover from a drive. This will remove your personal files, apps and drivers you installed, and changes you made to settings.
