The rig I ordered comes with 16GB DDR4 3000MHz Digital Storm Performance Series. I also have another 16GB DDR4 3000MHz Trident Z laying around. My question is would I be able to throw those Trident Z's onto the MOBO (ASUS ROG Strix Z390-H Gaming) for a total of 32GB without any issues, as they aren't the same brand?

As long as the form factor DDR2, DDR3, DDR4, etc is the same. So you should be good.

Actually, it could be more complicated than that these days as I understand things. Speed and timings can come into play. But it wouldn't hurt just to try it out.

If the timijng is differentb etween the two kits you can make an XMP profile to override that and fix the issue. :)
