Check this one 636617
1. The intel 320 SSD is better than the Corsair 2. You will not see any inprovement with the 2000MHz ram 3.Choose a tube color for the IC tubes. 4.Choose a free t-shirt. 5. The cpu is not stable with overclocks at or above 4.5GHz. I have the same cpu.

triple 580's will do better then dual 590's.The 590 has two gpus on one card. Which makes more heat so they have to detune the card to lower heat.

ok why did you change my tri 580's to 570's? im guessing i wont see much of a difference in performance...
I have no experiance with lc, is it a high maintenance system? will it keep everything cool even if say i were using the comp for hours upon hours? Anything else you can tell me with this system? Performance related that is. Can you get much better then this?

570's to 580's wont see much of a difference in performance With IC you have to flush the system once a year and put in new liquid. I would get a sound card. I just got a new pc with a sound card. It is the first sound card I ever had and it is like night and day when you campare it. You can not get too much more for performance. You could go with the 580 3GB edition. The only thing that will help with is things that need the more vram. I do not know how hard it would be to upgrade. I would just send it to ds and they will install for free. The temps will stay cool for was long was you need it. You can run stress tests for 24 hours and still be fine.

its also a waste going with the 3960x CPU.. just stick to the 3930k and have it overclocked. That will save you hundreds and you wont even see any difference in power.

another couple of questions, does the sound card make a difference even if im only using headphones, and if so which do u recommend? so upgrading from 8 gigs to 16 gigs of ram wouldnt make a difference? i guess what im asking is if its worth it. Oh and is it worth it to updgrade my fans or just leave it at the standard factory chasis fans? Hows this for a final product? Just need some input on a sound card, but like i said im probobly going to buy some new headphones, if you have any recommendations on head phones to would be nice...

by the way, the Asus X79 Deluxe mother board has way better sound quality than the Rampage Extreme... I contemplated buying the rampage extreme too but the ASUS deluxe is a better choice for most people.

Have you considered using the HAF X 942 case? If you are getting tri-sli, I think you may want to go with the HAF X case as it has the best airflow out of all the cases. HAF stands for HIGH AIR FLOW

he is going with two rads and there are only two cases that DS uses that has room for two rads.

look at my other thread about the Rampage 4 vs. the Deluxe..
http://www.digitalstormonline.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=16407 You'll see a convo between me and DST4ME about why choose the deluxe over the extreme. I was arguing FOR the extreme but he changed my mind.. |

He wants to go with a high overclock. So for the overclock the extreme would be better.

@hotshot146, you don't need the extreme to do stage 2 oc, deluxe can do it easy.
the deluxe has more audio features like - Absolute Pitch 192kHz/ 24-bit True BD Lossless Sound, and 8 channels vs 7.1 of extreme. actually if you look at deluxe you will see it has more feature in many areas, this has been covered before. @d2l41, this last config you posted is good but drop the mobo back to deluxe, and as for xspc "rx" series rads to be used for your lc with Scythe gentle typhoon fans on them so that you get better perfomrance with less noise. Now just keep in mind that with deluxe in tri sli all pci lanes are covered, in extreme there should one left after tri sli, if you want a free pci slot, then that would be the reason to chose extreme. yes exactly. We did cover the Deluxe vs. Extreme MOBO in the thread that I posted a link for a few posts above. DST has convinced me to stick to the deluxe board because I was dead set on going with the extreme.

Hi d2l41,
You have a good build but the Deluxe MoBo is a better choice. I wonder why you have the 500GB WD HDD? The 1TB Black is a better choice. Frank |

@ dst4me, are you talking about the zalman performance fans, or me buying some of those typhoon fans from some where else and installing them myself? |

CPU is the brain of your pc, what would it be like if I could make you think 10% faster? how about if I were to make you think 20% faster? thats kinda what oc is, you are making the cpu run faster, so it goes thru tasks faster, for most games it won't matter much but in everything else it will.
What I want you to is basically to ask DS to use xspc "rx" series rads instead of the regular ones they use, now rads have fans sitting on them so that you can get best heat-exchange, so we are asking DS to use typhoon fans on the rx series rad instead of their own fans. This gives us an excellent rad that works best with quiet fans (low airflow(cfm)), and typhoons are quiet fans, so we endup with a much better lc system which = better temps and no noise, vs higher temps and lots of noise. hope that clarifies if you have any questions keep asking, thats what we are here for.
