Topic: Need Some Advice on Rig Posted: 16 Oct 2012 at 11:29pm |
Budget:
[$2800] Expectations: I mainly want this computer to run Guild Wars 2 at Max Settings with 60+ FPS when soloing or with a small group. In WvW with large groups of people I would love to have it maintain at minimum 30+ FPS. I want this rig to basically provide me with a smooth overall gameplay experience on Max Settings in Guild Wars 2 no matter what I am doing. I would like this system to last, be able to play future games as well. Will this setup allow me achieve the results I want? Is the monitor and keyboard I selected good? Is the graphics card a good choice? Is the SSD drive I picked good? Do I need a i7 or would the i5 be good enough? Thanks guys! Edited by dcsantos7 - 17 Oct 2012 at 1:59pm |

Hi dcsantos7..... Welcome to the forums.
The config # 734530 doesn't match what you pasted so I'll comment on the the listing above. I would keep the i7-3770k for the editing, etc. For gaming the 3570k would be all you need. Either will get the job done. You could go to the Deluxe mobo with its built in WiFi and eliminate the added card but the Sabertooth does have a longer warranty. Drop the ram speed to the 1600Mhz. Its all you'll see and less potential oc problems. You don't need the 32GB in the #734530. Those that know SSD always recommend the 520 series but to me they're all good, so others might chime in on that. The gtx 670 FTW is a great pick and cheaper with same performance as the 680 in the config # you posted. Build looks real nice. Keep us posted and Good Luck.

That build looks great to me.
Before you order, if you can, look into the Dell UltraSharp monitors. The U2312hm is highly rated and a IPS monitor which has great color and clarity. Don't be mislead by response time figures. Alot of us have the UltraSharps and game great. Amazon has good deals if Dell website dorsn't. That monitor might be good also. I haven't kept up with monitor changes. Good luck. |

Hi dcsantos7,
Good build but I am not sure you have made a good choice for the monitor. This is a TN type monitor and the speakers are poor. Poor speakers are typical for monitors in this price range. I don't buy monitors with speakers because of this problem. Looking at the VE248H reviews on Amazon many people have problems with ghosting. This can be very annoying while gaming or scanning text. I think you will be much happier with the Dell U2312hm for not too much more money and a slight hit on screen size. The Dell U2312hm is an IPS monitor. IPS monitors always give a better picture than a TN monitor like the ASUS VE248H. The only reason to consider a TN monitor is cost. Frank |
