Howdy!
I've been lurking for awhile and I'm impressed with Digital Storm and the forums.
Its past time for an upgrade, but I'm so far behind the learning curve when choosing a build system that I think I'll ask here for some advice.
I play the Call OF Duty series of shooters, but primarily I'm a combat flight sim player, Il-2 1946, Falcon 4AF, and so on.
I'd like to continue to use XP Pro as my OS.
My budget is around $1,500-1,800. I don't need the monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.., just a box with all the speed and power I can afford.
I could really use some advice, please.

Il-2 @ 1920x1200 would be nice. I'm not sure about the COD settings.

Here is a special that Digital Storm is running right now. It looks like it would meet your requirements, and it costs $1799.
Link to build 213239 That build comes with the Nvidia GTX 260+ video card. I'm pretty sure it would play your games at 1920 x 1200 just fine. However, maybe somebody else who has tried those games will chime in with more details. Good luck! |

make your budget around $2000 and I can show you a system you can upgrade down the road to be a beast.
right now the biggest problem is the GPU, with your resolution you need 2 GPUs to play at high settings, but even with one GPU, the price goes over 2000 |

Thanks for the replies. This helps a lot.
DST4ME- Could you show me your suggestion build for the $2000 target?
The budget increase just meanms my order will be a little later as opposed to right now, but I can wait.
I'm a "only when I have to" system upgrader. If I could get a machine that would be expandable later, that might be a better option.

well the beauty of it, is when next year you want more power and have to look at your system and see what it can do, the system I'm talking about will say,"bring it" so you are never gonna look at another pc and say I wish I had that. If I were in your shoes I would wait, thats all I can say. here you go Ticket# 231723 --- Price: $2208 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: Cooler Master HAF 932 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Interior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz (Quad Core) Motherboard: EVGA X58 3X SLI (Intel X58 Chipset) (Supports Triple SLI or CrossFire) System Memory: 3GB DDR3 1333MHz Corsair Dominator DHX (High-Performance) Power Supply: 1000W Corsair HX (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) Card Reader: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 320GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260+ 896MB (216 Streams) (Includes PhysX Technology) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 2: Cooler Master V8 (Compatible With i7 Processors) Liquid Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a H20: Stage 3 Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Internal Chassis Lighting System (Blue) Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Yes, Overclock the processor as much as possible with complete stability Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Tweak Windows: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) (For Enthusiasts) Restore Kit: Digital Storm Specialized Recovery System (DVD Image Based) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks LCD Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks Warranty: 3 Year Platinum Care Extended Parts & Labor Warranty you get another $125 off with the current promotions, but while it takes you to save money, the price of this GPU will go lower at the same time so this config might very well be a better price later. |

its better that way, trust me, if you had a twin and your twin got one now and you waited and got one in say 4 or 5 month, you would end up with a much better PC and for a better price.
