So I might be coming into some money soon .. and well if I get it .. Its time to get a new computer. Seeing how nice this place is and all the good reviews and the uber rating on BBB I though to get my new computer here.

Budget:8,000$

Expectations: Be a epic gaming computer :D

Usage: I would say 80% gaming 10% photoshop 10% movies/tv shows/anime...

I need a least 2 tb worth of storage (So much stuff)

need a montior, keyboard, mouse, speakers (5.1 would be nice :D)

Um.. can't really think of anything eles right now .. So hope you all can help me slap something together

OS/apps and some games on the SSD, rest of the games/movies/music/media storage on the HDD.

This is already maxed out gaming wise, into splurge territory even. There are more expensive CPUs and memory, but they will not help gaming. No games can utilize the extra cores, few can even use more than 2 threads, let alone 8 (quad-core) or 12 (hexa-core). And memory's job is to feed and support the CPU, once you to get a certain point there are just virtually no gains to be had because you're CPU limited, not memory limited, and triple channel 1600MHz easily does the trick.

So basically, use this for a base, but anything extra will just be fluff or utility for convenience (Blu-Ray player, more SSD space for games, etc).

For $8k definitely get the 980X and overclock to 4.5.  Go 3 or 4 x GTX 480 and water cool everything.  GTX 580 is out in a week so I'd wait for that.  For Power Supply most definitely go Corsair AX1200 and stick with them for your memory too (2000MHz).

For mobo go Rampage 3 as it is regarded as best board available and great for OC.  Fact is an $8k system will keep you ahead of the curve for a long time and assuming money isn't a concern you can upgrade CPU/motherboard when a six core at 4.5GHz isn't cutting it (that should be a long time).

Also w/ EVGA step up program (get model that specifies AR) you can upgrade your video card simply by paying the difference in cost.  If you go w/ the gtx 580 that means you can step up to whatever their next latest greatest is for next to nothing.

How Epic is Epic?

I ask that because the linked/referenced system is the one being built and i'm truly excited!

I did invest in a 27" samsung monitor and the bought a refurbed logitech g51 surround sound system. I also use a razer mouse and keyboard, so that when i think Epic Gaming experience, i'm not just thinking of the computer, but all of the sites, sounds, touch, responsiveness, etc. You know, how effectively and comfortable do you play your game? How comfortable are you? How is the sound effects for you?

I'm not judging, but I'd take the 3k and buy a pimp system per the recos, then invest the 5k or more and hope to make that 6k or 9k, so that you can upgrade to the most relevant and powerful components of the time. I don't think there's 'deflation' in technology - rather, what people do is buy the most they can at the time. So back in the day, a 22" monitor went for over 250, now you can go a little bigger and pay the same amount. People aren't really 'saving' money, they are staying consistent with their budget. Someday, Hexa cores will come into the price range of Quads, etc. I get more gaming for my buck, but I haven't saved money. I'd only save money if I buy the cheaper item now, which most don't do, they get the most for their money at the time.

Gl! It sounds like a great rig! What games are you wanting to play or do you?

New cooling system is coming out from DS so if you're looking to spend some money on an epic rig, then I'd wait for that.  Tbh it depends though, because you could save money and get a powerful rig with air cooling, but the more you spend past 3,000 dollars or so isn't gonna get you much more performance for the price.  However, if you want to spend the money and have a super killer rig, I can understand, and I would suggest waiting for the new liquid cooling system that should come out in a week or two, and then you can reach some higher overclocks
So when the new cooling system comes out I would get that, and get the Intel 980x processor which then they will be able to overclock to 4.6 ghz.  Then I would wait and see how the new ATI 6970's perform, which should come out before Christmas.  I would get 2 of those, or depending on the performance of the new Gtx 580's from Nvidia I would consider 2 of those as well.  Which whenever these new graphics cards come out if you don't look up reviews and hardware news often you can expect some of us guys to post the latest reviews and info on them which would help you choose.  I would then get at least a 120gb ssd with your budget so you can store some more games and such on there.  And then a 2tb hdd for storage like your movies and games you don't play as frequent.

I think you meant the 6970 or 6890 (whichever name ATI decides) - likely to come out this month or early December.

I read that the 580 will likely outperform the 480 5% - 50% - depending on the types and it will have better cooling/quieter improvement - not large - over the 480.

The only "Bleeding edge" hardware I want in my system is the New Cooling System that is about to be released, my other components have been around a bit.
