Budget:
$2500-$2800: Just for CPU Expectations: I plan on using a single monitor setup with a 5.1 headset for gaming and some stereo speakers for media viewing. Usage: Everything from surfing the web and viewing Netflix to Battlefield 3 when it is released. Also, may do some light audio and video production Special Needs: I will not need to be doing major overclocks. I would like it somewhat quiet, however it does not need to be "silent" Saved Ticket #: 503556 A couple points: 1)Is this mobo ok, or is it really worth the extra $200 for the Maximum iv? 2)Dedicated sound card, is this really necessary? I have bought sound cards for much cheaper, and if I can save a hundred bucks I would like to. 3)Should I go to 8gb of RAM? 4)Harddrive: Should I go SSD and sacrifice somewhere else? Basically, I am at the absolute limit of my budget. I am fine with upgrading in 6 months and shipping it back to DS and getting several upgrades at that time. But right now, I would like to keep it around $2500. So, what should I go with now on the initial setup, and what can wait? Thanks for any advice. The hailstorm is not the best case for air cooling, you want an open case.
90% of your sound comes from gpu's fans under load, the cases are all pretty much quiet. 1. depends on one's needs, but most times no, not worth it, IMO. 2. sound is different from person to person, you can always add a sound card yourself, sound cards/pci cards/gpu/ram/hdd/ssd are all things we can show you to do yourself in like 5 minutes, they are extremely easy to do for someone who has never done it. 3. if its in the budget yes, if not, again its something we can walk you thru, and extremely easy to do, ether way for ram go with DS brand. 4. your choice of vr for HDD1 is a bad choice, in that case you are not getting most performance for money. Next month or so intel is comeing with out with gen 3 ssds, when they comeout, add that to your system for HDD1, and push the black caviar I'm gonna config for you below to HDD2. Your build needs lot of changes: Here you go Ticket# 503971 --- $2223 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Cooler Master 942 HAF X Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 Deluxe (Intel P67 Chipset) (New & Improved B3 Revision Without SATA 3G Issue) System Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 1000W Corsair (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (1TB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (64MB Cache) (Model: Black Edition WD1002FAEX) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1.2GB (Includes PhysX Technology) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 1: Noctua NH-U12P SE Dual 120mm Fans High Performance Cooler H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Internal Chassis Lighting System (Red) Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks Boost Processor: FREE: Overclock the processor between 3.6GHz to 3.9GHz Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty Ask DS specifically for this fan to be added to the top, so you endup with 4 x 200mm fans: haf 200mm non led fan Everything in this config was chosen so that you get most performance for our money, nothing chosen was based on preference, all based on performance. as mentioned add intel gen 3 ssd when they comeout yourself, for more gpu power you can drop in a second gpu anytime you like, very easy to do and we can walk you thru it.
