I have never ordered/built my own custom computer ever before. I have been looking to buy a DSO system for awhile but i don't want to pick a wrong configuration and my computer then sucks. I am looking for a computer in the $2,000-$3,000 range that will last atleast 5 years and work with the lastest games. It can be cheaper just thats my usual price range. Like i said don't flame me for being a noob :) If anyone can help me with a link to a configuration that would be great. Thanks again.

What monitor size are you going with, what types of games do you play and do you want to use your pc for other tasks such as 3D rendering or photo manipulation, animation, or media work? In a 5 year time span, you will need upgrades, so the pc you choose will have to be flexible with greater focus on top notch cpu and mobo.

Well i mean, if a dual core can run the games jut as good then i'll go with that. For the screen size i am using a 17" monitor i believe. Not the one i will use if i get the computer.

The reason people are asking about the monitor size is that it will affect the recommendations of graphics cards and what is needed to run at the resolutions you will be playing at.  The performance of video cards between a 17" and say a 30" monitor is huge.
