I work for a small data modeling company. We run Promula, which is a legacy software written in 1985. It has currently been updated to run 32-bit capability, but is still single-threaded software.
We have been using Core 2 Duo Cores as long as we have been able to purchase them. We have overclocked them to about 3.6 GHz and have been getting a solid 3 years from the machine. We run them hard. Because we are now having difficulty with firmware compatibilities, we are hesitantly stepping into the world of quad cores, Windows 7, etc, even though we cannot utilize their full capabilities. With all of that, any suggestions on where we should start? |

Would your software run with Windows 7 and Quad-Cores?
It would be difficult trying to make a new performance PC if your limited to compatibility issues with your software. |
