Hello I have the aventum 3 with the full Hydrolux with dual gpu with hardline tubing. I have to replace my motherboard so need to drain the whole system. Can anyone lend some guidance on the best way to drain this system.

Hi, Sorry you have to change the mobo. Seems like recent system. Did it go bad? Do you have to drain the sytem to r&r the mobo? Don't you have the manifold also? Hardline or tubing? If tubing, can you remove the QDs from the manifold without draining the system? I have the Av 2 (no manifold) and to let the coolant out I had to remove a small hose connecting the lower radiators, tilted the pc forward and opened the reservoir to let air in as coolant drained out. (have a bucket under it) I do not know how the Av 3 or X are configured but the concept is the same. Let coolant out from the lowest point of the loop while letting air in. You have lifetime service from DS and they might have a better way of doing it. Give them a call. Good luck.

The motherboard has been messed up since the day I got it. I bought the PC in 2017, and the whole liquid cooling spilled over the system when it got shipped. I mailed it back, but they never replaced the motherboard, and every usb didn’t work. It took so long to get back I ended up just buying a pci usb card and didn’t mess with it. Unfortunately the motherboard has just got progressively worse, I’m on my second power supply also which I think could be because of the faulty motherboard.
Anyways I have hard line tubing, but I found a forum post of Someone that said they cut the line at the very bottom down by the lower radiator to drain the system. I am considering adding quick disconnects during this flush so it will be easier next time. |

On mine you remove the front cover by pulling on it, remove a fan and the lower rads' fittings are staring at you. I doubt they connected them with hardline on yours. Easy to remove the small hose.
