How long will it take DS to offer the new I7 processors? Rumored release date is set for the 16th, excited about the new tech and looking forward to purchasing a new I7 comp from ds. Confused

Yeah, most of the DDR3 RAM runs at 1.9 Volts or above, way above the recommended max of 1.65.  The main problem is, no one is sure how fast i7's will die if you go above the recommended 1.65 limit.

Don't you have the gut feeling one year after launch, a bunch of people who use ~1.8 Volt DDR3 modules will have dead i7's and will start to throw fits?

the x58 mombo's I have seen have different voltage settings for the CPU and ram so the limit is bypassed.

I also saw somebody go above the recommended voltage for the CPU and it was OK, but thats not an indication of long term usage.

but again there is no need if the mombo will allow us to set different voltage
