Very interesting read, thanks for the link Harry.
I am not so certain that the ball is not already "squarely in the software industry's court" right now. I don't see more than a small fraction of the software I use making proper use of even the current generations of Quads, let alone the next generation with even further improved parallel processing muscle. Hopefully, the customizable nature of the new processors will lead to more efficient fab process and lower prices.
