Just wondering how many of you out there are either waiting for you DS computer to be built due to the lack of the new 780i motherboards (like me)Sleepy on-site at the facility or have had it built with the new board and can relate your experience with it.

That's the first I've heard that there is a shortage.  Did someone from DS tell you that?  And is it just a matter of them ordering one, or is the shortage beyond just DS?

Yikes.

Ooops, just noticed that your build has the Evga, and mine has the nVidia.  Is it the Evga that is in short supply?

There is a shortage on the 780i motherboard from all distributors. I think it has something to do with the holidays. In any event, we are getting our new shipment in some time this week I'm told. So we'll be able to move all of those systems that are waiting for a 780i into assembly and testing soon.

If you did not get a status update email from us letting you know about the shortage, I apologize. As some of you may know, the network in our new place had a tendency to drop from time to time. I'm thinking a good amount of our status updates got lost in one of those network crashes.

Thanks for the update.  Is there typically a message sent out when something like that is received and the building starts?  I'm order 6037, by the way.

Once the order has gone through assembly you get the stage 2 email to let you know it's entered testing. If moving through any one of the stages takes longer than 8 days, you get a status update email that explains the delay.

Dashuu,
I never got a notice that my order was on hold due to the shortage of the motherboard.  I spoke with Kelly and he informed me that my build was never started for that reason when I called yesterday.  He also told me that you are using the eVGA board.

Venture...I was also told that there was a problem with the XFX 780i boards they were using.   Based on that info, I requested that an eVGA board be used.  By the way, my order is 6077Cry Quite a few behind you.

Thanks phantomdog.  Was that the same price?  And does anyone know if that would that slow my build down more if I requested a switch?

The price was the same,  According to Kelly, they would not be using the XFX anymore and would use eVGA. So the wait will be based on when DS gets the boards in as Dave said above.  I sure hope it's this week as he indicated so they can move these 780i orders alongConfused

I wish we could get as many 780i motherboards as possible. I spoken with eVGA many times, and we are doing our best to allocate as many as possible. From what I know, they are eVGA 780i motherboards and we have a shipment coming in soon. Smile

Alex...when you say allocate as many as possible I am assuming that eVGA cannot meet your demand.  Will you get at least as many as needed to satisfy the orders currently on hold?  If you cannot, how long does it take each time you have to "reorder" from eVGA and get them in stock?  Unhappy  I could see this dragging on...

By the way...I see the newegg now has them in stock (were out a few days ago).

I am interested in this as well, order 6121.  Nothing was mentioned when the order was placed early this week.  Whats the chances of seeing my puter in the next 4-5 weeks?

The ironic part in all of this is that I had to make my first payment on the credit card for my build that has not even been started yet...YIKESCry

Phantomdog, sorry about that. We charge cards right when orders are placed because we purchase inventory as soon as orders come in. This allows us to have the lowest pricing and pass the savings to the customer.

I have some great news everyone, after speaking with NVIDIA we just received a big shipment of eVGA 780i motherboards today. All orders that are pending wait on the 780i motherboard will be fulfilled.

It pays to be 30 mins away from NVIDIA. Tongue

Alex & Dave,
That is great news!!Tongue
Don't get me wrong, I understand why you charge your customers in this fashion, it is just one of those things that was out of your hands when it came to the 780i boards that delayed these builds, but it was "different" to have to pay on something I didn't have in my hands.  No big deal...

Now I will quit wasting your time so you can go build my computer!!Tongue
