Holy sh*t, man!  I was waiting for a new laptop, but you are seriously tempting me to get one of the desktops (even though I don't have any games or monitors that can do it justice, and my 2 year old DS is doing perfectly fine!).

Speaking of laptops, how is that refresh coming along?  I can't wait!

The chassis does have airflow vents, and it will kick itself up if it gets too hot.

I have been viewing the forums for a while now. I must say these are some very nice prebuilts for stellar prices, but as another person mentioned in a different thread, why were the warranties changed from 3yrs to 2 yrs without any notice? This is a cause for concern for me as the Asterek cooler has high performance, but is considered to be the lowest quality of lc and may have issues from it being such.

Edit: Oh yeah, once these prebuilts sell out, and the way they are moving, there isn't a doubt about that. Will we be able to expect new similiar performance prebuilts for similiar pricing relatively soon afterwards?

Hmm...I didn't notice that.  That's definitely a matter for concern.  More importantly, Alex, on the prebuilt custom page, the picture still states, "3 year complete warranty lifetime technical support."  If you're sticking with the 2 year warranty, you probably want to get that changed, otherwise that's false/deceptive advertising...

To return to the topic of the prebuilts though, just for fun, I crunched numbers at NewEgg to see how much it would cost to build them alone.  It comes out to be $2400, only $300 less than the cost of the pre-built ($200 if you count in the value of the factor overclock from 2.66ghz to 4.00ghz, guaranteed).  So even totally ignoring the cost of labor and the value of a warranty, etc., the cost to buy from DS is at most a mere 8-11% above that of building your own.  That is unheard of for system builders of this quality!

HAF932: $140
Core i7 920: $280
evga X58 SLI LE: $210 (after $20 mail in rebate)
3x2 1600 mhz Corsair RAM: $100 (after $20 mail in rebate, cheapest model)
1200w Power Supply: $170 (after $30 mail in rebate, cheapest model)
2xGTX 295: $1000
1TB Western Digital 7200 HDD: $100 (cheapest model)
500GB Western Digital 7200 HDD: $55 (cheapest model)
Windows Vista Premium: $225
DVD/CD Burner at 20x/48x: $58
Asetek Cooler: $65

Total: ~$2400.

I see that it did change. I'm glad I didn't wait. When I bought the Extreme 1 at that time it still had the 3 years warranty.

I'm referring to the picture at the top of the screen, with the old Asian (?) dude wearing the glasses.  That still states that there is a '3 year complete warranty'.

Were you talking to me? I know what you were talking about and I agree with you. I was just saying I'm glad I didn't wait because I bought it before the warranty change.

Due to the steep discounts, we had to look at the warranty term, so we have had it changed to 2 years. We also just updated the banner now, thank you for the heads up.

Should be, but if this is something that was just released the past week or so, we prob. will begin to use it within a few weeks after our supply refreshes.

Has anyone ever used AMEX extend service plan??  You know where if you use AMEX the warranty is doubled for your purchases?  I keep using my AMEX just for that reason...but never had to use it...just wonder if that would work on purchasing a new system here?  Oh' and by the way...I still see on the site in several locations that all your systems are backed by a 3 yr blanket.  Especially during check out and the bottom.  Maybe you all should just go back to it..that way you won't have to update your website...my 2 cents:)
