That's not the best choice of proc for gaming. But that's very good news because the right choice is much less expensive. Will allow you to properly build a gaming rig around the video card where the true power comes into play.

The key detail is what monitor resolution you intend to game at. That will define your video requirement. At your budget, we can recommend a highly capable gaming computer.

Hello, thanks for responding. The monitor that I planned on getting is this one that is offered in the accessories: MSI 24 inch MAG24C Curved Series (144Hz Refresh) (1ms Response) (1920x1080).

(I took out a bunch of stuff you didn't get to make it easier to read.)

The CPU is the top gaming proc you want.

The SSD is NVMe, up to 10x faster than a SATA drive. Samsung is the top brand with a 5 year warranty

The All-in-one cooler from Corsair is top quality with a 5 year warranty.

The video card is the best price/performance for 1080p monitors.

There is room in your budget for a lot more power if you want. You could go with a 1440p monitor, in which case I would advise the RTX 2080 for the best performance at that resolution. The 31" MSI 1440p monitor and the RTX 2080 would bring you to around $3815. All the other parts would remain the same, as they are already premium.

There's nothing wrong with 1080p gaming, I've been there for the last 8 years!

I would suggest spending the extra 60$ or so on a rtx 2070, so if you decide to upgrade to 1440P you will have a smoother experience.

So the RTX 2070 will work with the current monitor I initially planned on getting, along with a 1440p?

Okay. I think for now I will stick with the current 1080p monitor but get the RTX 2070 like you recommended. Thank you for helping.

Good build and solid advice from both Cretae and Nagooker!
I do agree with Nagookers advice to go with the RTX 2070 here because it’s still well within your stated budget, and it’s the most current “sweet spot” RTX card that can run most everything on high settings... and it should serve you a bit farther down the road.

Phew, yeah i9 9900x would go to waste with a gtx1060. I9 9900x needs at minimum a rtx 2070 or higher. I would also get the 512GB SSD 970 pro extreme for your high end games that eat up Frames Per Second.

Yes sir, the difference is in thd read speed after a game is downloaded. The write speed you can think about it as uploading a video. The higher the numbers the quicker you can manipulate/recieve the data.

Btw your HDD drive creates extra heat/noise i would look into just swapping it out gor a 500GB SSD instead

Are you saying this: SSD (500GB Digital Storm Performance Series) for the Storage Set 2?

The difference between the 1070 and the 2070 is $105. Still not a lot if you anticipate 1440p gaming before you want different parts. There seems little gain in not going ahead with a 1440p monitor since you're getting the card for it, and it's still in budget.

The 970 PRO is said by Samsung not intended for comsumer use. Here again, there's not a major price difference, but there is very little gain between the two. You'd never see that slight extra speed in a gaming rig. It will have no effect on frame rates.

You should think hard about trading 3TB of storage for 500GB IMO. Two 500 GB drives would not be nearly enough for me. NVMe is not necessary for loading games. For faster loading and more capacity, get a Samsung SATA drive, 1 or 2 TB, but not here. Look at Samsung 860 EVO SATA SSD's on Amazon, and price compare.

If you simply must burn money, at least get the 1TB NVMe.

I think you're going to be very pleased. It's my pleasure to help if I can.

One thing I've learned in over 30 years of gaming (yes, I said that!) is the folks who go over the top spending on very marginal performance gains find that in a year in a half, their rig is out of date in almost every aspect. My approach is simply to save that money by getting what you need now so you can easily upgrade when you need to later. Seems to me that keeps you much closer to the cutting edge so much longer.
