Hello all,

I recently purchased a Velox. I honestly know very little about PCs and I'm super excited to buy one after being a console player for so many years. After doing a little more research online and in the forums, I'm wondering if I should've bought an 850w power supply instead of the 700. Yes, an 850W PSU would be a much wiser purchase. A PSU is a pain in the... to install, yourself, so we recommend you have some overhead to allow for a wider range of future upgrades. GPUs are going to need more power going forward, and 700W will limit you.

I'm also wondering if your choice of GPU will perform to your liking. For another $160 , I recommend a 3060 Ti, which is much more suited to running your monitor. Have a look at this:

https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-3060-Ti-vs-Nvidia-RTX-3060/4090vs4105

A 3060 Ti is capable of 90+ frames per second on high settings for most all but the most demanding games. If money is an issue, you'll find $168 can be saved on your CPU. The 12700K is a bit overkill just for gaming:

https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-12700K-vs-Intel-Core-i5-12600K/4119vs4120

There's virtually no difference in gaming. The 12600k will last a very long while in a gaming rig without having a lot of computing power wasted.

I won't niggle anything else, I don't think you'll be disappointed if you make those changes.

Welcome to GS.
Congratulations on your purchase. Awesome

Cretae has hit all the points. Do try to get a stronger psu.

The Velox is a DS exclusive design and the window is on the right (when facing the pc) and the hardware is mounted upside down. It is very roomy and easy to work on when the time comes to upgrade.

Enjoy.

Smile

Thank you all for the advice! I called customer support a couple days back and swapped out some parts based on the the recommendations.

At this point, I'm just hoping that the 5-10 day shipping time is accurate. I'm not sure how much longer I can stay patient

That is basically amassing a few bits of carton cardboard in the yard. Set them afire and dance and prance in a circular direction until you feel the gods have heard your plea. Some say it helps.
