Topic: New build choices and Questions. Posted: 29 Sep 2008 at 11:29am |
My name is Jayson im new here at the forum and i just have a couple questions...
Im looking to purchase a computer here in the next month or so. Ive built a couple PC's myself and its definatly the way to go if your tryin to save some money but ive got a job that takes alot of my time now and to tell you the truth with companies like DS around and there amazing machines why not just have them deal with it! :)
Here is my build please let me know what you think and i will have a question or two at the bottom. Thanks everyone in advance! Have a great day!

If that makes sense.
One more question as far as Digital Storm building PC's... does anybody know if they allow other products that might not available on there "Custom Build Page" Such as ...
Zalman ZM-MFC2 Fan Controller
or other add on products.
Also if anybody has an Suggestions on my build please please let me know. :) Thanks everyone! Hopfully ill have a DS gaming rig soon!

In order for the system to use the full 4 GB of RAM you will need to get a 64 Bit OS. The 32 Bit OS can only address a total of 4 GB and that inludes the memory in your video card(s) and other hardware. You may only see 2.8 GB of the 4 GB with the current configuraiton.

if the option is available to get both cards at once, I suggest it. But no, getting them at different times will not hinder the SLi experience. Just make sure you get the same models.
As far as custom parts go, we prefer that you use what we offer, but if you want something else, of course we can get it, but it would be an extra cost. |

Nope. We just won't offer any support for your own card.

"if you are going wtih 2 cards then instead go with 2 x gtx 260 you won't notice the difference betweent the 260 and the 280 with 2 cards." are you saying if i get the 2 x 260 i wouldnt notice the difference between that and 1 280? couple more question...
Hard Drive 1: 150GB Western Digital Raptor (10K RPM) (16MB Cache) (SATA) (Extreme Speed)
Hard Drive 2: 500GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Whats the reasoning for this?
for $36 more dollars i could get...
System Memory: 4GB DDR2 800MHz Corsair Dominator DHX (High-Performance)
is that worth the 36 extra bucks?
Thank you so much for your time i really appreciate it!

No what I'm saying is the one gtx 260 is so close to one gtx 280 that even in one card you would have a hard time noticing the difference, if you go with 2 cards then you really won't notice the differnce between two 260 and two 280. but if you want to go with 2 cards then we need to raise the psu to 860w
150GB raptor has a 10,000 rpm, the higher the rpm the faster teh disk is spining, the faster the disk spins the faster it is. So raptor will give you speed in games and os. but you want to keep your os drive clean and easy to maintain, there for you put anything other then os and apps and games on the second drive. also this way if something happens to your first drive, your second drive with all your media/personal files is safe and sound. If your buget allows you to get a 300GB veloci raptor, that would be the best choice, since you get the faster rpm and more space for games, and its the newer version of raptor so there is some speed increase but you won't notice that, the extra space will come in handy with big games tho, its up to you for ram go with OCZ, its a good ram and crosair has been crapping out here anyways. you will not nitice any difference between the 800MHz ocz ram and teh corsair you are talking about. hope that helps Edited by DST4ME - 29 Sep 2008 at 5:19pm |
