I am starting from scratch, i want a brand new setup. New monitors and everything, so lets start with that because i know that is always the first thing what res are you playing at. What monitors should i be looking at? I want a very low response time because i love to play shooters on console as well as PC. I have looked around and found the Samsung PX2370 has really good reviews, but what else should i be looking at? What about IPS, i know before they didn't really have any low response time monitors available but has this changed? The monitor resolution really don't matter to me, but has to be at least 1080p for consoles, although i wouldn't mind higher for PC gaming. Thank you for your time.

I should also mention, i will most likely be getting 2-3 of these monitors depending on the price. They must be able to hook up at least my PC and 1 console, so i need a hdmi and a dvi. I can switch the hdmi cable between my xbox and ps3 when i need to, but if any monitors had 2 hdmis and a dvi that would also be great, but more worried about response time and having the best picture i can.

Edit: Thought about this after, i might be able to use a adapter or something for my consoles if it isn't a hdmi, but only if it doesn't add to the lag or take away from the quality.

I don't know all the monitors and which ones have HDMI, etc, but don't let the response times steer you away from some real nice monitors.   The Dell UltraSharps are rated at 8ms response time which seems terrible but in fact alot of us use them with zero problem.  No lag.   Response times are fudged by manufacturers to sell monitors because they know what sells.    IPS does give better contast and colors over TN.

I have heard this before about response times, but i don't feel that it is completely fake, i just feel like the type of gaming may be different. I play call of duty on console competitively on a website that has leagues and stuff, gamebattles if anybody knows about it. And i used to play on my TV and when i switched to my monitor i instantly noticed a difference even though i didn't feel lag on my tv. Now what my tvs response time or input lag are i do not know, but i never felt it before i got my monitor and even now its playable but there are sometimes where my monitor would have benefited me. I think that a lot of people that don't feel the lag, don't need those milliseconds where to me they matter. Now i am very interested in IPS monitors, and i would love to get one, but i need one like i said that has no lag at all. Going by cnet reviews and their display rating chart, the PX2370 got 1 point less then the IPS monitors i was looking at, and it is a very good monitor for gaming. I would buy a IPS monitor and if i don't like it buy the others but i want them all to be the same.

Are there any IPS monitors that have 2ms response time? even 5ms?
