Topic: New Build Ordered Today!!!! Posted: 12 Mar 2009 at 9:08pm |
I have started this thread to document the stages of my new dream machine. I spent far more than I had originally planned but I think it will be worth it in the end.

I immediately received an email receipt and an order ID. A second email was received a moment later notifying me to check with my bank to make sure such a large purchase would be accepted (which I did).
3/12/2009 5:14pm EDT: Customer Care emailed me letting me know my configuration was all good.
3/12/2009 7:57pm EDT [Stage 1]: I received an email notifying me that my order had been successfully processed. This email also outlines and defines each stage of the build process.
3/13/2009 12:54pm EDT [Stage 2]: The stage 2 email I received stated that a component bin had been assigned for my order.
3/13/2009 12:54pm EDT [Stage 3]: Moments after the Stage 2 email arrived I received an email (actually 2 identical ones) showing my system is now in Phase 1 integration. The parts are starting to come together (well for stress testing/installation anyway)!!!
3/13/2009 10:54pm EDT: Sent a request to customer service for an EVGA GPU.
3/16/2009 12:11pm EDT [Stage 4]: Received an email showing my system has entered the Engineering Lab. Assembly has begun!!!
3/16/2009 12:19pm EDT: Received a response to my EVGA GPU email stating that my system does include an EVGA GTX 285 (thanks again DST).
3/16/2009 7:47pm EDT [Stage 5]: My rig has now been passed on to the phase 2 stress-testing team. I also received a new est. ship date!
3/23/2009 12:18pm EDT [Stage 6]: 2 days after my last estimated ship date I received an email saying QA has received my system. This email included a new estimated ship date.
3/23/2009 6:08pm EDT [Stage 7]: I received an email showing that my rig had passed QA along with a breakdown of my overclock and temps. Next comes shipping!!!!!!
3/23/2009 8:39pm EDT: Received my tracking info from DS. Estimated date for delivery, 3/28/2009.
UPDATE 3/23: Current estimated ship date: 0-1 business days (Mon-Fri) from 3/23/2009 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's it for now. I will keep the first post updated as my rig moves through the stages...
I am hoping for a nice, smooth build although the length of time is not a major concern. As long as the system works perfectly the first time I start it up I will be more than happy.
Let's just hope the shippers are merciful since I live in Florida... Edited by issues1975 - 24 Mar 2009 at 2:22pm |

Well the first 3 stages were quick! I'm sure the last 3 stages will take quite a bit longer. No rush, of course. Hopefully they take their time and make sure it is as close to perfection as can be... Edited by issues1975 - 13 Mar 2009 at 10:34pm |

BTW, I went ahead and ordered the 230mm blue LED fan for the front of the HAF DST mentioned here:
(looks like the product is no longer listed)
I'll have to take before and after shots since I will be installing the blue case lightning from my last tower and my Raptor HD.
Now I just have to figure out a good keyboard and mouse set up. I still have a while before I can even think about spending anymore money though...

I too am a big EVGA fan. My last and current GPUs have been EVGA (7800GT, 7900GT). The motherboard I am currently running is an EVGA N-Force 4 SLI AMD; the old 939 socket. Never have had a problem and the card OC'd nicely. I'm still able to play Portal maxed out at 1680X1050.. |

wtg! I love the break down of all the steps - I told a friend mine would prob be here in about 5-10 days and he thought that was excessive but I'd rather 10 days and get it working out of the box than 2-3 days and have problems.

Same here AI, as long as my system works right the first time the length of the build barely matters.
My beast is being assembled!!!
Once again, thanks for the heads up on the GPU request (although it looks like it already had the EVGA)...

This morning's email had an estimate of 3-5 business days (Mon-Fri) from 3/16/2009. The email I received this evening had an estimate of 2-3 business days (Mon-Fri) from 3/16/2009. It may not turn out that way but it's still a little exciting... |

30 business days is nothing. But the Onkel_Ken testing labs pride themselves in testing that spans many months and even a year or two. You can be assured that my testing will far exceed any trival month or two testing that DST4ME can provide.
I can send my shipping address if needed.
Remember, when you finally get your PC back from me you will no longer want it!

Well lets go to the charts then shall we
Clearly my test's quality gets better as the days go on, while your test's quality gets worst as the days go on. Edited by DST4ME - 17 Mar 2009 at 1:57am |

Your rig is probably much more complicated than mine. If I remember correctly, your system had a price tag over $3500.
The more complicated a system, the longer it takes... Edited by issues1975 - 17 Mar 2009 at 1:18pm |

I'm sorry DST but I need those quality points defined or I will just have to go ahead and do all of the testing myself.

Well we have a extensive testing that we consistently do, as you can see in the chart our tests become more intense as the days go on.
We start by installing the needed software, then we first test driver compatibility, this is to make sure all drivers run fine and have no issues. then we move onto software, we check to make sure all software are working fine and have no compatibility issues. then we install the games, we check and make sure all games have no issues with installed drivers and software. This testing becomes more extensive as each day goes on and each stage has passed the test. |

Well it looks like the 2-3 day estimate isn't going to happen.
Still in Stage 5.
Maybe DST did make that call...

Should have went with the Onkel_Ken testing lab. I would have had it tested and back to you faster than DST4ME. You know he is enjoying totally immersive gaming with your PC right now. In addition, when he is not gaming with your machine he is doing heavy science by letting your GPU do folding.
Honestly, you are just a few days away from getting your dream machine. Stage 5 was my longest and I had 2 emails with 2 different ship dates when I was in Stage 5.
