NEW BUSINESS DESKTOP ADVICE

   This is for a new home office desktop used 85% business.  Typically I run multiple applications at the same time that can easily consume 1 GB of available RAM including:  Office 2007, IE7 often downloading and updating stock portfolio, charting, etc., Adobe 8, MS SQL Express and a SQL based case management program.  SQL uses a lot of RAM and my desktop is both server and workstation. Finally, I would like snappy performance from the Vista desktop including Aero. 

My last desktop (P4 2.66) was used for almost 5 years so I am looking at a similar life span.  

The second HD is for ghosting the OS in case the first drive fails (files are backed up online as well).

The only questions I have are 

1.  Do I need the GTS 512 or would be the GT 512 have comprable performance in Vista x64 applications?

2.  Also, for my purposes is there any meaningful difference between the performance RAM and the high-performance Dominator RAM?  I am OC'ing the processor only?

3.  Is the motherboard overkill or is it needed because I want to OC the C2Q cup?

	1. No, you don't need a GTS 512. The 8800GT should be just fine for business applications. 2. There's no meaningful difference in the XMS and Dominator ram for your needs. 3. You can have processors overclocked on any motherboard but with the Maximus Formula, you will get better results.

	I've "downgraded" to GT 512. Going to leave the RAM as is for now, but I'm still not decided about the motherboard. Sales at DS suggests I go with the 780i board for better compatability with the nVidia video card. The board seems pricey for my applications and I thought even the Maxiumus was overkill. 	You can always call and ask for a motherboard from newegg if you feel their offerings are too pricey. You don't need a 780i board unless you plan on adding another video card for SLI.

	You're definitely better off with the g92 gts. Although the performance is only about ~15% higher than the GT, it kills it in cooling which is the GT's biggest weakness.
