This better not be better than the HAF Sleepy

It's on the configurator now. The HAF has better air flow to be honest. This one is unique, it's a new form factor where the entire system is mounted differently. Instead of having all the video cards, sound cards, cooling system mounted horizontally, it's mounted vertically!

Cool, I wonder if that would affect anything, nahh I like the HAF, just ordered it. I just wish the HAF had a nicer window, other than that its awesome, I just have to have those compressed air duster handy and clean it every few weeks or so. O well I have to call on Monday and change a few things as well, and send another wire transfer.

Ya I noticed that HAF had better cooling, But I also noticed that the 1050i is huge, its got lots more room.

I personally don't like cases where there is a door that has to swing open to get to the optical drives.

this case looks sweet and looks best for those who are going to LC the whole system, CPU/GPU.

can we get some pics from the inside of it?

Alex,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the way everything is setup inside the case, I believe this is what Dell has been doing for awhile on their XPS's.

I think the case looks interesting and intrigueing, but why change the way things are laid out inside the case?

What are the pro's and con's to this?

I saw a video of it on youtube, it is the silverstone raven indeed.  The way you open the front is amazing!  I was wondering if it was any good though.  Cause there are not many fans at all you can have in there.  Its also contains alot of plastic.  But, if its quiet...I really would love to hear what ALEX and the gang who have been working with it think about it.  Must be amazing, or they ouldnt put in in the configurator with the DS logo emblazoned on the front...hmmm/

Hi

I really do not like this case.  The rotation of the motherboard puts all of your i/o ports on the top of the case.  I have two external usb drives as well as other stuff on the floor next to my case.  Plugging them in on top means longer and bent cables.  It is ugly to say the least unless you hide everything with the shroud.  That means bending the cables down and taking the shroud on and off every time you want to plug or unplug someting.

I also am not a big fan of extensive use of plastic.

Finally, I think the air flow may be worse than indicated.

I think the HAF is still the way to go.

Alan

Two problems I see with this case. Too much plastic. Too tall of a case. While the size is probably to accomodate power users who want tons of equipment in their rig, it means that the fans used for case airflow is far apart. Yes, that's a typical problem with current cases, but if they wanted to make a "revolutionary" case design, they should have taken advantage of all possible improvements.
As for plastic... are they just trying to keep costs down? I dunno, but if I wanted a "statement" case that represented state-of-the-art, I wouldn't go with plastic.
If I wanted a Silverstone case, I'd go with the FT-01 since it's a beefy aluminum case that's not as huge and still offers expandability and good cooling.
The Lian-Li Tyr series is more revolutionary with the fans being very close from front to rear and offering optimal cooling for an air system.
No doubt that the raven is unique and agressive looking tho. Perhaps next gen design will be aluminum and a little more conservative looking... just a touch.

Not a fan of vertical mounted cards. But who knows, change is often a good thing.
