I'm looking to replace my current system.
 
Budget:$1600-$2000 computer only. I'm trying to hold a $2000 ceiling but would go slightly higher if the upgrade bringing it slightly over would be worth it performance wise.
 
I use my computers to game and surf the web with an occasional DVD. I typically don't eat up alot of space on my hard drive.
 
The games I will be playing will be MMO'S mainly SWTOR,WOW, I enjoy COD,BATTLEFIELD,etc... I'm content to enjoy the FPS genre at less than full resolution due to budget restraints but would like to get as much performance as possible.1920 x 1080 resolution is my recommended monitor setting.
 
I buy a new system every 3-4 years upgrading minimally as needed.

For games like bf3 you would need sli to max things out but if you are good with turning things down, then single gpu is fine.

I can custom config for you with better parts, price comes out to be higher then ode 1 but some parts are better, gaming performance is the same.

so have you looked at ode 1? if so do you want me to config you a custom one that is more expensive?

The ODE 1 is the computer I was looking at initially. When you speak of higher quality parts what exactly would you be upgrading? I've ran through the custom configurator and end up seeing what looks like the exact same parts other than the case for significantly more?
 
I've heard talk of new GPU's coming out in Feb. what type of performance increase per price point would someone in my price range be looking at?

Till gpus are out we can't really tell you what kind of gains, cause it would be BS and not facts.

with ode 1, it already has a good cpu cooler, so the custom config would have better case, mobo, psu.

this system can do sli but it would be pushing it, if you want better headroom you can always upgrade the psu later for sli but the mobo is ready to go. you get another $75 off of that price

I like that build as it gives me some options going forward. I'm thinking of adding a 120GB SSD. I have no experience with them personally but would it be a worthwhile addition for gaming?

 
Or if I decided to go with a ODE 1 would I be able to have you add a SSD on that?

All ssds are not the same but a 320 or a c300 or m4 are good ones and great additions, a ssd helps balance the overall perfomrance of your pc.

You can add ssd to any system yourself.

OK here's where I'm at. I've added a 320 SSD from the above configuration. I'm also considering replacing the case with a Corsair 650D as my wife says it looks too gaudy :) Would the Corsair 650D perform as well as the other and overall how's everything else look.

The reason we love teh haf x is because of its airflow, the 650d does not have the big side fan which is a main thing IMHO and helps the gpu out a lot, but the 650d will do good also just not as good as haf x.

OK I'm gonna go with the HAF X, one last question. Would liquid cooling be a worthwhile addition over the (Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 2: Corsair A70 Dual 120mm Fans High Performance Cooler) and would it make a difference if I go SLI in the future?

Also while I'm at it how much benefit is there going from a GTX 570 1.2GB to a GTX 570 2.5G? I've always wondered how much GPU memory does for me? Running a 24" monitor at 1920x1200 (1080p)

If you want to go sli you should go with the 1050hx psu.

at your res the extra vram will not do anything so stick with 1.2GB.

the a70 and noctua are king in performance till you get to stage 4, lc is not needed on these platforms.

sli has no baring on cpu cooling, unless you go stage 6 which puts the gpus under lc.

Ordered up my machine. In the end I went with the SSD and 1050HX psu upgrades I like the options they give me. Very excited to get my new system.
