-Should I stay with the liquid cooling to processor and stage 3 fans, or put down an extra 400 for dual cooling?
-9800GX2 x2 or stay with 9800 GTX x2?...remember I have a 22 inch LCD and will not be upgrading.
Any advice about this build would be great...want to purchase soon, but I want this thing to be able to play high end/high rez games for 2 years

Thx for all the help Clap

Liquid cooled processor and stage 3 fans should do very well for you.

The 9800GTX isn't released yet, so I can't say with any degree of certainty how it will perform. If it is indeed nothing more than a refresh of the 8800GTS the performance of 9800GTX's in SLI should be roughly equivalent to the 9800x2, but the cooling will be better in the discrete cards.

The build itself is killer. The RAM speed puts the memory performance firmly above what is possible with DDR2 and takes full advantage of the new technology. We'll just have to wait and see how the 9800GTX's look once they are released.

what i would give for that much money....
Even thinking of it makes me drool. Its almost flawless, despite the fact that you might want too up up the network card. To the best of my knowlege, what you have selected is not wireless, so that's a maijor flaw, but otherwise, its perfect!

Thanks for the help!

Tyler,

If the specs on the 9800 GTX is true...should I just buy one 9800GX2 instead of 2 x 9800 GTX and save 120 bucks? I just have a bad feeling about driver support in the future with the 9800GX2.......
-What I really wish is that the 9000 series had new architecture......but I don't think I can wait until sep/oct for the next series

Bearing in mind what I have read so far is speculative, *if* true, unless you plan to run a triple SLI configuration, you would be just as well off with a 9800GX2. The 9800GX2 is basically a pair of 8800GTS mated inside a shared fan shroud with an integrated SLI bridge. If the drivers for that card prove to be bad, having separate cards probably won't be much better.

The only problem i see with the GX2 is the cooling issue. Plus if you ever find the need to quad it youre gonna have to have a beefy power supply. I assume itd have to be the 1200W one, though i wonder if a 1000W would be enough as well.

Plus dont get me started on the heat TWO of those damn things would give out inside your case.

A high quality 1000W PSU is enough to run 2x 9800GX2's with most air cooled setups.

From HardOCP's Review of 9800GX2 SLI:

What you have told me is what I have been wondering about for the last month (9800GX2 vs 9800GTX)...

I dont believe the quad will ever make a difference since I have a 22 inch LCD (don't think I would see much of an improvement at all based on tom's hardware benchmarks.....plus it looks like I wouldn't need to have gas heat anymore....just turn on the computer)

I guess I will wait for benchmarks on the 9800GTX (hopefully Tuesday).

Thanks for all your help! Any other suggestions would be great!

I used google to see if there were any early benchies for the 9800gtx and came across this article:

O.k....

The specs came out on the 9800 GTX today...should I get the 9800 GTX x 2 or the 9800GX2? I can't find any reviews on a dual 9800 GTX setup yet. What do you guys think?
