I'm looking to buy from Digital Storm in the summer most likely
Budget: $2500 Uses: Gaming, video editing, photo editing, 3d modeling I want a computer that I can run games on max settings. My current resolution is 1440 x 900. I may upgrade to a 1080p monitor later so I would like my PC to handle up to that resolution. I have no plan to go any higher than 1080p in resolution. I might also get dual monitors later but I would only use one for gaming. This PC needs to be able to handle intensive programs such as After Effects, Maya, Cinema4D, Photoshop, Vegas, etc. with ease so I need a good processor and lots of Ram. Also I want enough room in my motherboard to support a wireless card and a possible audio card if I desire. My room gets to around 80 F in the Summer so I need sufficient cooling. Here is what I have come up with, please give me feedback Ticket Number: 536721 Also I find that blue color would fit my room better than the red, is there a better case I should pick that has blue LEDs? I'm not really interested in SLI if I can run everything at max at my resolution. Does the p8p67 have enough PSI slots for a wireless card and a possible audio card?
Is the gtx 570 enough? I want to be able to play battlefield 3, gta 4, etc at max Also should I bump down the cpu OC to stage 1? I want a cool system and I have a hot room and want it to last for a long time. |

Where it counts 570 is only 4 to 8 fps slower then the 580, so normally I would say 570, but you said one thing, "gta4", that games needs vram, at least 1.5GB if you want things maxed out, so for that game you want a 580 or 6970, in this case 6970 has more vram and cost less.
most games will do fine with one 570/580 at that res, however some games may need sli, so its upto you, bf3 I'm not sure if you will need sli or not. hot room can turn out to be lot of headache, pcs use the air around them to cool things down, if the air around (room temp) is hot, then they are blowing hot air and that can be a problem. |

I think i'll go with the 570 as it seems like a way better choice for my resolution and could still max most games out.
Should I get a better air cooler due to my room temps? What about the p8p67 mb? Will that support what I need? Like a wireless card, audio card, etc? I don't want to have to replace my motherboard unless I'm switching processors. Thank you very much for the help. I'm sure when its actually time for me to order this thing, some better parts might be available. |

Right sorry I forgot to answer teh mobo question, well first you don't want sli ability then this:
Here you go Ticket# 537417 --- $2338 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - HAF 922 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 (Intel P67 Chipset) (New B3 Revision) (Does Not Support SLI) System Memory: 16GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 750W Corsair TX (Dual SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (120GB Solid State (By: Intel) (Model: 320 Series SSDSA2CW120G3K5) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: 1x (2TB Western Digital (7200 RPM) (64MB Cache) (Model: Black Edition WD2002FAEX) (SATA 6Gbps) Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1.2GB (Includes PhysX Technology) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 1: Noctua NH-U12P SE Dual 120mm Fans High Performance Cooler H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: - No Thanks Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 1: Overclock CPU 4.0GHz to 4.4GHz Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: FREE: Digital Storm T-Shirt - Black (Medium) Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty Ask DS specifically for this fan to be added to the side, so you endup with 3 x 200mm fans: haf 200mm non led fan now this case can't do sli but has enough pci lanes for you to add the cards you want (wirelss/audio). your gpu will cover the red rectangle, the rest of the pci lanes are open for use:
As I mentioned before if room temp is hot, then teh cooler is blowing hot air, getting a better cooler, will not make your room temp any better and no matte what you use, you will endup with fans using the hot air of your room to try and cool things down, which will not help. To add to DST's comments, about video card/sli is this. Battlefield Bad Company 2 uses a as much of your processor as your video card. There using an updated engine, a new one, and have said it uses resources like the old one.
Which means, you can only do better by going SLI. When I play this game on my dual GTX 275's they are both 99% useage throughout the game, along with my CPU at load. So I would suggest SLI, or at least the ability to SLI.

Ok well I think I will go with this one
Ticket Number: 537455It can't do SLI but I don't think I'll need it. By the time the 570 won't be any good, a much better single card will be out. Thanks for the input, I'll have to check up again in the summer and see if my build needs any updating, but for now I at least know what I should expect. Edited by HubCAp_ - 07 May 2011 at 6:42pm |
