I have a couple of questions I'm hoping you all can shed some light on as I'm a relative novice in this field. 1. Would I notice a big difference between the 1.2gb and the 2.5gb versions of the 570? I only plan on using 1 monitor for gaming at a time (for now) and will probably have a web browser open on the other. I don't plan on gaming in 3D or maxing out my settings although I will be gaming in 1080 if possible. Is this difference in price worth the upgrade? 2. Should I consider upgrading the PSU from the 800W if I plan on adding another video card in the future. I know the specs say that the 800W is dual SLI compatible but I just wanted to be sure it is sufficient. 3. Would I be pushing it if I went for the stage 3 OC? I'm sure the stage 2 is more than enough, but I like to push the envelope to a certain degree. Any input/suggestions on these questions or the build in general would be greatly appreciated! 1. depends on what games you play, some games like batman will need more vram, others are fine with the 1.2GB of vram.
2. when it comes to psu, look for quality and reliability, for corsair the hx and ax line of psus are the ones with long track record of reliability and quality, I would advise 1050hx, we recommend you upgrade gpus once every 2 to 3 years to keep pc powerful in gaming, but then in the future if you want to upgrade the sli to future cards and they have needs of a 580 sli the 800w can't do it. 3. stage 3 oc is nice but it comes at a price, that price is the life of your cpu, the higher the oc the higher the vcore, the higher the vcore above 1.4, the faster cpu will die, at stage 3 oc you looking at about 1.5 vcore, at that level your cpu will die within a year. so go stage 2 oc and as you see us say all the time: Ask for vcore lower then 1.4 for your oc. change your cpu to 2600k for best current and future performance. |

Thanks for the advice. I've been folding off on picking up Arkham City for the PS3 (yeah, yeah...I have a console) in anticipation of picking up the PC version, so I may indeed go for the 2.5gb card. It's also good to know I'd need a better psu for future graphic upgrades. Stage 2 is more than enough of an OC, so I'm good there. I went with the 2500K as I didn't plan on doing much other than gaming with this machine. Would you think I could get away with this or better future-proof my investment by going with the 2600K?

The cpu is the brain of your pc, you may just game but your pc still has to run window, av, firewall, etc and all kinds of stuff in the background, best idea for the future is the 2600k IMHO.

 Will the current fan setup be sufficient to handle the changes? Ask DS specifically for this fan to be added to the top, so you endup with 4 x 200mm fans: haf 200mm non led fan Ask for vcore lower then 1.4 for your oc. |
