This is the config of, hopefully, will be my new computer :
Case: Digital Storm Twister PRO (Black Anodized Aluminum Finish)
Power Supply: 620W Corsair HX (Dual SLI Compatible) (Silent Edition) Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz (1066MHz FSB) (8MB Cache) Motherboard: nVidia 680i LT Core 2 Quad (By: eVGA) (nForce 680i SLI) Memory: 2GB DDR2 Corsair at 800MHz Dominator (Dual Channel) (High-Performance) [+72] Floppy / Card: - No Thanks Hard Drive 1: 320GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Hard Drive 2: - No Thanks Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive 3: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x) (LightScribe Edition) [+25] Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks [-41] Connectivity: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card(s): 2x SLI Dual (nVidia GeForce 8800GT 512MB (By: eVGA) (PCI-Express) TV Tuner: - No Thanks Sound Card: Motherboard Multi-Channel High Definition Audio (7.1 Channel) Physics Card: - No Thanks Cooling: Air Cooled Stage 2 (Silent Artic Cooling Heat-sink (Copper Heatpipes) [+49] Case Lighting: Blizzard Internal Lighting (Blue Edition) (Cold Cathode Tubes) - Cabling: - No Thanks User Manual: Personalized Platinum Digital Storm Binder (Includes Paperwork/Benchmarks/CDs/Manuals) Processor: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my processor Video Card(s): - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Windows OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium [+22] Recovery Kit: Digital Storm Specialized Recovery System (DVD Image Based) Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks [-29] Mouse: - No Thanks [+0] I also have some questions to ask.
1/ The 620 W PSU offered by DS look a little bit " weak" for a SLI config.
Should I go for the 750W PSU instead?
2/ I have read somewhere in this forum that 2 8800GT will give out a lot
of heat. But since I do not overclock anything, is the heat an issue for
this case? From what I know, the Twister Pro Case comes w/only 2
fans.
3/ I uses High Speed Internet by SBC Yahoo. The antivirus/antispyware
etc... are from CA. I also have an antispy call Spybot search & destroy.
Unfortunately, both lack a good firewall. The McAfee offered by DS does
not work w/ Vista. What kind of Antivirus/Spyware/Firewall you guys
use for your computer?
Thank you very much for your time.

Corsair PSUs are made by Seasonic and they are one of the best in the business. It won't let you down. SLI GT uses ~200W while your Q6600 uses ~100W (these are on load). The reality is most people never use more than 400W.
You can add additional fans to the case if you feel that heat might be a problem. I highly recommend nod32, it's the best one out there by far. http://www.eset.com/ Edited by skyR - 19 Dec 2007 at 5:31pm |
