Hi All,
Am thinking of getting this build sometime soon. Just waiting on my Refund. Any suggestions ? Was thinking of going raid 0 with the 150 raptors but ive been kinda hearing they might not be that durable. This machine will need to last me 4-5 years so I need some parts that will last. I went with the 300 raptor because it seems to be more reliable or do you all think I should go with some 7200 rpm models.Will I notice a big difference from a single raptor to 2 7200 in raid 0. I will be using my old monitor a 24 inch Gateway and not planing on going SLI anytime soon. Thanks all for any feedback. the parts they use also suck, its not just their customer service.

Thanks for the feedback. One thing , I have heard liquid cooling horror stories about it leaking. Is this something I need to worry about and also how is maintenance on it as I hear you have to keep an eye on it so I,ve stayed away from it. The 500 gb option might be a good way to go if ssd are gonna come down. I would just move it to my data drive when i get a ssd then correct? if i wanted more drive space that is. Thanks again for your thoughts.

The liquid in the cooling systems is non-conductive so it won't ruin any of your parts but if you get a LC rig and it leaks the fluid will probably need to be cleaned out and the faulty pieces replaced. Since DSO has warranties on their LC components i'd imagine they'd do it for free, but to be safe i'd call and make sure they covered it.

the LC system is air tight you can turn your computer any which way you want. once a month its a good idea to check your reservoir and add a bit of liquid if necessary. (reservoir is most likely velcroed inside one of the optical drive bays, you just look at it, if the level is low you just pull it off, add a bit of liquid and put it back on the velcro. other then that its a good idea to flush the system once every 3 to 5 years, which DS can do for you or you can do yourself the fluid is none conductive so even if it does spill nothing wil happen. your system is under warranty so no matter what happens you are covered. ssd prices are only going to go down from here. when you get the new drive you just clone it to the new drive I have a simple guide for doing so. you can follow my clone guide here. what you want to do is move everything from the 500GB to the new ssd (clone will do all of that in one shot) then you will endup like this: HDD1 = ssd OS/apps/games HDD2 = 500GB personal/media file storage. |
