Hey all! After ordering a Lenovo y700 desktop and having it DOA on day two I'm hoping to find DS up to the challenge. I ordered the vanquish 5 level 3, but with a few modifications. I'll post a full spec on request but it's fairly simple, 16gb ram, i5-6500, 250gb ssd, 1tb hd, gtx 970 4gb, and a wifi card by asus.
So questions: 1. Is the wifi card installed before shipping? If not is there a way to request that it be installed. While I'm perfectly fine swapping out a ram card I absolutely hate dealing with bios/drivers. If neither it would be great is someone could provide some tips on installation of the card, asus pce-n53. 2. Are the drivers mostly up to date when it arrives? If not what's the best way to handle windows/nvidia/bios/mobo updates and in what order? This is what killed the Lenovo, bad drivers by the second day the computer would only flash colors on the screen when trying to boot. 3. I have a 600w Ups, the PSu is a 750w. I assume it will be ok to plug it into the ups since a 970 card shouldn't draw all too much power? 4. Are there any others thing to be aware of so that I get it setup correctly on arrival? Sorry to be so leery but after Lenovo and a terrible laptop I ordered from cyberpowerPC about two years ago my faith in the industry is low. DS does to to have a better reputation, especially with the wiring. Oh yeah and it has windows 10 which I find fairly scary, my laptop had 7. |

Damn, they would bring the i7 back to the lvl 4 after I order mine. Anyway, congrats on the buy. When it comes to digital storm you are in good hands. They stand by their system and they are one of the best in the industry. I have had my computer for about 3 months and I have had no major problems at all.

Hi aaronw,
Congrats on your purchase. ![]() If you have issues on boot up, one of the first things DS will tell you to do is plug the system directly to the wall and bypass the UPS. Just a heads up. ![]() Enjoy. |

Awesome, and yeah I was looking at the vanquish 4 but hadn't charged my card yet. Next day I look it up and boom vanquish 5. I would have gone with an i7 non overclock, but with the new 5 ~1400 was my limit.
And sweet seems that everything will be as legit as the unboxing vids I've seen. Haha and 90% of the videos I watch say they bought a terrible cyberpowerpc before finding DS. Edit: Build hit phase 5 stage 2 stress today, extremely fast as I ordered late yesterday. Awesome since I'm mid semester cd major and the downtime is hurting after the Lenovo screw up. Hopefully it ships on the 5th day, the soonest estimate. Edited by aaronw - 23 Feb 2016 at 7:53pm |

Vanquish Level 5!! and now it's customizable! Before they were only pre-built - no options. Nice, except for the WiFi card options.
Why did they not include one with the new 802.11ac standard?? I added in the Asus PCE-AC68 card into my Vanquish 4 and it works great getting the fastest Wi-Fi currently available. It should at least be on the list of options to choose from. Congrats on the new system! Edited by SoCal65 - 25 Feb 2016 at 2:14pm |

Yeah I've read the card doesn't function well with windows 10 yet, maybe drivers so a new wifi card may be in order.

Someday I'll tell you about the Vanquish 2 and the timing between the Vanquish 1 and 3.. it's a long story and the bottom line is a machine that's not either one of those. But I'm still extremely happy with the V2.. Besides, what's that old saying: "If I waited for every new thing, I wouldn't have any thing."
