Topic: New Desktop for games and work Posted: 06 Jan 2012 at 1:13am |
Hello,
I am thinking on getting a new computer for playing and developing games. At first I was thinking of going with the Assassin case to keep temperatures low, but after reading some threads it seems like everyone is going with the Haf X. Was this the right choice? Regarding Monitors: I was thinking of purchasing two Dell UltraSharp U2410 ( not included in the budget ) because of what I have been reading in other threads, unless you guys recommend something else. Regarding Internet Access: I choose the wireless adapter but was wondering if there was a way to have the option of a wireless adapter and Ethernet ports. I have been using laptops for a while and will have to buy everything from mice to keyboard. So if it isn't to much trouble. Do you have recommendations on speakers? I am really excited about getting this computer :) What do you think? thank you very much for your help. Budget: Around 3500 Expectations: Dual monitor gaming and work PC. Usage: 50% Battlefield 3 and the likes :) 50% Image editing, 3D modeling ( Blender, Maya, etc...) Special Needs: Temperature is definitely and issue, it gets pretty hot in my house. mt wife usually has multiple programs running. Photoshop for editing images, dreamweaver and Blender for example which is why I added all that memory. Also to speed up Rendering times. Thank you very much for your help,
I like your recommended build (640765) I will probably stick with Windows 7 ultimate because we need the multiple language support. I have a question regarding the memory. is there a reason for selecting 8GB instead of 16 ( besides keeping it within range of course )? |

For gaming 8GB is more then enough, but for developing you may need more I'm not sure.
My pleasure and good luck |

Thanks DST4ME! I am also planning on buying a laptop that I have posted on a separate thread here:
http://www.digitalstormonline.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=16641&SID=d2a3zab9eae237eb8dccb6e4191f32f5 I was wondering if it isn't too much to ask, if you could give me your opinion on it. If you are too busy, I understand completely. |

I have not been keeping up with laptops parts to be honest with you, that is why you don't see me comment on laptop topics much, somethings are the same, for example amount of ram you need, ssd vs hdd, which ssd, but when it comes to gpus, I'm not sure at all right now about which is the best bang for the buck, which is totally worth it and which is totally not worth it at all.
I'll take a look at your config, but I can't comment on what I don't know. |
