I'm looking to spend around 1800 to 2000 dollars. the budget can be moved around a bit though if necesary.
I'll be gaming at a resolution of 5760 x 1080; no 3D i expect the computer to be able to run things on the highest settings with about 50FPS and be abt to run them on three moniters; SLI; Crysis:Warhead, Crysis 2, Battlefeild 3, The Call of Dutys, Starcraft etc. I will be using this computer 15%school 20% poking around on the internet and 65% gaming. id like to have at least a terabyte of memory and a small SSD just for Games and the OS i have looked at the ODE lv. 2 and lv. 3 they look really nice. and the price makes me smile. would these be able to run the three screens and the games there at a fair framerate? or would i be better off with a custom build? thank you in advance guys |

Um.. ... um... well. Ok.. f it.
You will not get highest settings to your expectations on that budget. To game on that res.. you're gonna need atleast 3 580's 1.5/3gb, or 3 6970s.. that alone is like almost 1000$...

The ODE's are great configs for the money, but I am sad to inform you that they are just not going to cut it for gaming at 5760x1080. SLI 570s might maybe cut it with games that don't have grueling requirements if you kept AA off and lowered some settings, but by no means are they going to manage "highest settings with about 50FPS and be abt to run them on three moniters; SLI; Crysis:Warhead, Crysis 2, Battlefeild 3, The Call of Dutys, Starcraft etc." |

Well i can throw you some info if you plan on gaming on 3 monitors..
You'll need TRi SLi / Crossfire. With that being said the current p67 mobo can do TRi SLi/Crossfire, but its at a bandwidth of 8/8/8 (but really the performance on benchmarks show 8/8/4) So really will you notice a loss in performance? At your resolution you're wanting to go at, maybe/most likely.
Now you're obligated to go with the x58 (previous generation before p67), or wait for the new ones coming out later this year. x58 has the lanes 16/16/8. You'll need either 580's or 6970's pushing that res. If you want to try that gaming res you need to save up a bit.. while others suggest waiting on the new boards coming out, an x58 can still get the job done. But why spend money on older stuff?

Sounds good. Don't let that stray you away from thinking you can't go 2 card SLi on one big 27-30 monitor :P. Gaming on 3 monitors comes down to: Can you get used to the bezel's. |

Depends on your res, and the amount of AA settings in the game you're playing. If you're going with a res of let's say 1900x1080, i have no doubt 2 560's can push that with low AA setting.
Level 3 ODE is probably the best bang for the buck though. 2 570's are pretty dang good, especially at that price DS has the level 3 at. |

What does anti aleasing even do? (if I spelled that right.) What if the res is x1200?
Sorry I left the pc gaming industry a while back for console (shame I know) and now I want to get back into pc and my old system is very outdated. Built when I was seven though so I'm still proud of him :) |

in a general way, it will make the game look smoother, get ride sharp edges and etc.
your first numbers of the res is what we go by, so for example, 1900 x 1200 or 1600 x 1200, notice they are both x1200 but that is not the full res, 1900 x 1200 has difference gpu needs than 1600 x 1200. |

ok for that res, you will not be able to tell the difference between single 570/580 and sli 570/580, in short go with sli 570 and spend your money on other things that you will notice performance from.
ode 3 would do great for that, but keep in mind some of the parts in there we rather were different but its still a great performer.

Exactly what partbof the ode isn't good? I mean it's made by digital storm so if it breaks send it back for repairs right?

Well lets clear some things up, first, its built my digital storm, made makes it sound like it has DS parts, DS does not have any of its own parts.
second yes DS built it, and then put a 1 year part warranty on it. so after a year something breaks, you pay for the part, you pay for shipping back and forth to you, but that goes for all pcs with the 3 year warranty, its really 1 year part. having said that, DS uses pretty much the same parts we would use if we were building it, for better coolling and longer reliablity, we would use teh noctua for cpu cooling, for psu we would use 850w corsair "HX" or "AX" psu again for the same reason, the TX is not known for its ability/reliability like the HX and the AX, the mobo I would prefer the x68 or the deluxe, and last for hdd2 the 1tb black caviar is better for its speeds, other than that, I love all the other parts.

Thanks, my I had to wait a year for this system to get all stuff worked out, with upgrades and some issues, but its here now and I love it.
its kicking ass and taking no names
it would cost lots more right now to go with those over ode, they don't offer teh 850 hx, so you either have to request it or go with 1000w corsair. the config would be better then ode, bigger case, more head room on psu (sli 570/580 np), 1TB black caviar, a70 cooler, deluxe mobo, and sli 570 comes to $2819. but if you get it with one 570, and drop in teh second one yourself #566418, price of system $2399 plus $325 for second 570 from newegg = $2724, about a $100 savings and $200 more then level 4 ode but with better psu/mobo/cpu cooler and bigger case, tho I don't have anything bad to say about the white 600t case that the ode has. Ok, I think for the MoBo it would be worth it. I recently won a 750W core edition PSU from XFX on that front I don't think I have a problem. So I guess the thing is if the deluxe MoBo, and CPU really is worth that much extra money.

Well but not only is it not a good psu, its not a good idea to connect sli 570 to it, expect early death from it.
but I get what you are saying. |
