Hello! I haven't bought a desktop in years. I've been using laptops when I'm not at the office. All I need it to do is run multiple trading platforms at once and 2 monitors at least.
I'm not a hardcore gamer. My brother recommended I come here because these computers can do what I need and more. They kindof look like overkill for my intentions but am also tired of my laptop freezing up and shutting off. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

Welcome to DS. Post what your intended uses are and the configurator gurus will give you plenty of reasoned advise and options. Include the resolution of the monitor(s) you will use or plan to get. There are Workstation systems also available. Enjoy. ![]() |

Thanks for the replies and sorry for the delayed response. My budget is 1-2k. As far as the resolution on the monitors, I'm not sure. Probably not the craziest one's available, but something I can watch movies on in my free time.
I don't really intend to game on this, but some of the software is pretty intensive on my laptop and when I run them at the same time I get tons of lag. I really appreciate the help. Thanks again |

It seems you want the best budget system you can get for the modest needs you have. So, here is my suggestion:
3947045 $1592 To see it in the Configurator, go to the main Forum page> upper right> "Load Config". Copy and paste that number. The Lynx case is chosen for budget reasons; it's the least expensive case. You don't need a lot of processing power, but the 5600X is the newest 6 core/12 thread CPU from AMD and is an excellent buy. The 16GB of RAM will enable a lot of multi-tasking at once. The power supply is plenty for what you need, but will limit future upgrades to the high end GPUs available. You definitely want the fast NVMe SSD for your primary drive. Instant everything, ~12 second boot time. The HDD will be okay for general archiving. I know the GTX 1650 can run multiple 1080p resolution monitors (High Definition). Up to three, I believe, but you might want to look into just how well it does. On a desktop, you have to use GPU outputs, and enable multiple monitors in Windows. I usually like to recommend the best CPU cooling available, but the 5600X is lower power, and doesn't heat up as much as the higher core count CPUs. You can easily get by with the air cooler to save well here. These are the basics to achieve what you want. I'm not entirely positive you could run a movie on one monitor while looking at market updates and a spreadsheet on two others, but you should be able to do that on two at once with the RTX 1650. Nvidia would know. So should DS. Hope it helps.
