Greetings guys!
New here just looking around. After spending some time here over the past week I went ahead and made a build for a computer. I just wanted some feedback and what not. Good bad or otherwise. Feel free to leave it all here and just let me know! No real special wants or needs for this build. As long as it can run some video games well on it I think it will do great! Welcome to the forum Talos66 !
Strong component choices mostly here. The I9-9900K is the top gaming processor. The Asus Z390 Hero is a strong mobo. I modified a couple selections for your consideration. The Intel K and X class processors are made by Intel to be Overclocked...and you are paying for performance you can only get when you do Overclock...so use the free DS Stage 1 OC as you will have sufficient cooling. I switched to the better Corsair cooler and it’s longer mfg warranty. You could still save some cash by reducing CPU to the equally strong i7-9700K CPU and solid Asus Z390 Strix - H mobo without much difference in gaming performance at all. Nothing wrong with the stronger CPU and mobo choices though...both very solid performers. Changed Drive 1 to a 5 times faster Samsung Evo 970 500gb M.2 NVME SSD Drive. The DS SSD Drive was a standard SATA III model, while M.2 NVME SSD use the faster PCIE bus that the video card slots use. Reduced RAM quantity to 16 gb of the better Corsair Vengeance RAM. For gaming, 16 gb is all you will need or could use at present. If you ever need more, it’s very easy to add more yourself as it’s plug & play. Reduced power and switched to a better quality Corsair 850w PSU. Still plenty of headroom above what your excellent RTX 2080 GPU will require. Upgraded to better performing Corsair LL RGB case fans. You can download Corsair iCue software to control all Corsair RGB components color options. Amazing the options for changing the look. Lumos build 01. ($3397). Config # 2440968 Upgraded to better quality Corsair H100i 240mm CPU cooler Free Stage 1 Overclock on the CPU Upgraded to faster Samsung Evo 500gb M.2 NVME SSD Drive1 Dropped to 16 gb of better quality Corsair Vengeance RGB RAM Dropped wattage to (sale) Corsair 850w PSU Upgraded to better performance Corsair LL Series 120mm case fans See what you think of that new configuration. The Corsair branded components carry longer factory warranties than do the DS stock items. |
