Ok, so I'm tired of struggling with my current PC. I have around 120 steam games and I can't play most of them (or if I can, it's mostly low quality) and I want to get into PC gaming.
First off, I'd say my budget is 1500 dollars... I'd be willing to go up to 1600. I want a PC that's capable of running most games at max settings, full HD. I also do photoshop but it is mostly for simple designs so that shouldn't be an issue. Other than that, the computer will be used for general research, internet browsing, and that's pretty much it. I already have a monitor, keyboard and everything I just need the actual PC. Would a computer like this be feasible on a 1600 dollar max budget (Of course, is someone can offer a cheaper build that would be great also) ? I'd love to be able to play Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2 with DX11 settings. I was thinking of building it myself, but if it's possible to buy one already made, that would be great (I'm not really good with the tech side of things haha). Thanks for your time, and I hope someone can help me. Edited by jyanez16 - 27 Jun 2011 at 12:10am |

To play games like bf3 at 1900 x 1200 res at highest settings with good aa, you gonna want a sli setup, like 570 sli, so your budget is not gonna let you do that.
you can look at ode 1, it can be upgraded by you to sli but, 1. you will endup with sli 560, which is not gonna be great for bf3, and 2. if you want to go to 570 sli, the money on the 560 that comes with it, is gonna be wasted, and you nobody wants to waste money. so we are basically stuck with a single gpu system and at 1900 x 1200 you can only ask for so much. |

To be Honest I'm ok not running things on max. As long as the performance is good (I'm ok with 30 FPS). I'll also settle for a lower resolution if need-be, my current monitor is 1440x900, so I could stick to that instead of buying the full HD monitor. Would that help? Also, while I'd love to run BF3, it's not a real necessity as long as most others run good (Ex.. Shogun Total War, Metro 2033, Fallout, Tropico 4 etc). Heck, at least running games at 720p would be great since I've mainly been a console gamer, I'm used to that. Edited by jyanez16 - 27 Jun 2011 at 1:26am |

metro is another game that needs more power. at hd res.
IMHO your options right now are to go with ode or go with this add your own 570 to it, and then in a few months if you like, you can add another 570 for sli: Here you go Ticket# 571035 --- $1,347 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Cooler Master HAF 922 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i5 2500K 3.30GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS P8P67-M PRO (Intel P67 Chipset) (New & Improved B3 Revision Without SATA 3G Issue) System Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 1000W Corsair (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (500GB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (16MB Cache) (Model: Blue Edition) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: - No Thanks, I will be installing my own video card(s) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 2: Corsair A70 Dual 120mm Fans High Performance Cooler H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: - No Thanks Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 1: Overclock CPU 4.0GHz to 4.4GHz Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty You can get a stock evga 570 for around $310 to $330 if I'm not mistaken, its over your budget a bit but will give you a 570 now and a 570 later if you need it. I really like to stick you in a 2600K but budget does not allow. If you can't do my config, I would go with ode 1 then, you can sli 560 that down the road, and since you are ok with not everything being high, you should be ok. As long as the games are playable, even if not in full HD (720 is fine). My problem right now is that my PC lags even with the less power-hungry games so I just want something that will run the games at at least 30 FPS, even if it's not max settings. Thanks for the help man!

both my config and ode 1 should give you more then what you are asking and with sli 560 is will do even better, in a couple of years tho, you may need a gpu upgrade. For future performance I like the 2600K better to be honest.

Alright so just one more question. Will the ODE level 1 allow me to play almost every game at least on medium settings (at 1440x900 resolution)?
Also, this is the first time I've ordered a PC online and I've heard Digital Storm is one of the best, would you say they're reliable (in your opinion). Thank you for all your help and sorry to bother again but I just had those two questions. |

At 1440x900 you should be able to max out a lot of stuff, I would run it at 1920 x 1080 (full hd) first and see how I like that, then if I was not happy I would move down to 1440x900, I think you should be ok at hd res with settings turn down some, with high settings I see it gets around 30 fps, so with aa/settings a bit lower, you should be rockin in hd res.
AS for DS, if it was not a good company, I would not donate my time for free to help out their new customers and make sure they get the best bang for the buck, nor would I give them 10 grand to build the terminator you see in my sig. With the way they care about their customers, People like Alex to deal with, great tech support, amazing workmanship, I 100% recommend DS to anybody and everybody.
And you will here other customers say the same, just look at the review section of the forum.
Also ask as many questions as you like thats why we are hear and we love questions ![]() Edited by DST4ME - 27 Jun 2011 at 3:59am |
