When is the estimated time of new NVIDIA or ATI GPU's that support DirectX 11?

How shortly will they be available after Windows 7 seeing that supports DirectX 11?

And is it worth the wait for them or should I just get a 295 sli or 285 sli when Windows 7 comes out?

ATI's will be in stores very soon, NDA is lifted this week. I don't know when DS will get some in, but I would imagine in a couple weeks.
Nvidia's will not be out this year, early next year.
To me it is worth the wait, if you do not upgrade cards very often, but if you upgrade GPU's often, like every year, then get a pair of 275's for now.

If you gonna wait then wait till H1 of 2010 cause that is when the most powerful cars will be out, if not then as justin said go with 275-s.

but he 5850 I think should be out tomorrow

5850 is slated to be out one month after 5870, last I heard...or maybe it was the 57XX one moth later.. ?. Hmm looks like the 5870 is going to be one heck of a card for those who love high AA...
High res + high AA one 5870 will beat 2 275's in a lot of games.  wowser

Once they are on the market (NewEgg, Amazon, etc) we should have them within a week.

This Tom's hardware article says they will be around $380 to start.
Do you guys think that in the future 1 GPU will be all we need?  In other words the GPU tech will leap far ahead of the games?

this will all depend on your resolution and the game's needs.

for 1900 x 1200 a 300 gt or a 5870 will due for now, but if next year they come out with games that need more power then we might find ourselves same place we are at now, theoretically speaking of course.

super noob question here...

If I decide to go with GTX 275 in SLI instead of going with the new ATI series does that mean when the dx11 games come out I will not be able to play them at all?  Or does it simply mean I won't get all their potential?

You just won't get the full potential of dx11 games.

If you do decide to go SLI, you will need to upgrade your psu.

I thought I have plenty of overhead with that powersource?  i think each GTX 275 uses only 270 watts at maximum load.  Isn't that plenty of overhead?

By the time games will use DX11 you will want to upgrade again.

cool thanks DST4ME.  Thats what I thought.  I'm starting to think that my PC is best left to one decent upper level card anyways.  I don't know I gotta think some more about it.  Their is certainly no rush as my single 275 plays games great IMO.

Great to know though DST4ME, that I have some options.

As I said before the only thing I plan on doing is adding 3g of RAM and possible going another 275  for SLI or one of the new cards commin out.  So i'm betting my PSU would be fine with those upgrades.

Thanks everyone for the advice.

My pleasure

Your psu will be fine for those upgrades, IMHO your best bet is to wait for the 300gt cards and upgrade to those, one card should out perform or do as good as 2 x 275 and use less power then 2 x 275, which puts it right up your ally.

good luck

THanks again DST4ME I see no reason why I shouldn't just wait and see what those cards will be like and i'll go with the best single card option at that point.
