The ATI cards will be compatible with Dx11, which Diablo III and SC II will use and the OP seems interested in.

I like nvidia also but right now ati gives the best performance and crysis is real gpu hungry at your res, so to get close to 60 fps in crysis at 2560 x 1600 res I think the 3 x 5870 will give it to you.
3 x 5870 will kill 2 x 295 |

Wonderful - very interesting that the 3 Ati will kill 2 - 295s. Also interesting that the processor is only a 920 class. Highly overclockable vs the 960 or higher?
Thanks Greg |

highest overclock you can get from DS is 4.2Ghz, and an 920 can do that easily.

SC2 will only use DX9/10. The site itself expresses that it will use mostly DX9 but may include some DX10 abilities. If those will be limited to only DX10 is still up in the are. Diablo 3 who knows, maybe DX12 will be out when it hits.

she should be fairly quite, the pumps make a little noise but nothing loud.
not sure what you mean by the clean house comment. you should never reinstall unless you have issues. if you restore just remember you lose all that data and go back to the day you made the restore image. when you get the system you can install your games and programs then immediately clone your hdd, and then you will have a complete backup of the system at that stage. very interesting occurance today. tried to install crysis and all expansions today, warhead and Wars, and can't even get it to load with 2 - gtx 295's just hangs at a black screen. Is this a known issue with crysis in Win 7 or is it just that much of a beast. Of note, i do have my nvidia drivers set to max and not to "let 3d app decided on quality."

couldn't tell you that, you should ask this in crysis forums.
set your settings for gpu to default and just enable sli and see what happens. |

got an email today that the powersupply you suggested is 3weeks out on backorder. I offered to send in my 1200w from my current system, will a Thermaltake Toughpower 1200w be good enough?

I would wait for corsair or take a 1200w pc power and cooling, but the pc power and cooling is gonna be loud, much louder then the corsair.
I would wait, but thats me. |
