I got my Hailstorm II finally July 3. I had to wait to open it as it was way too big and heavy for me to do alone. So finally opened it on July 4, to see what we thought was a awesome system. Before stripping off the plastic bag, we noticed wet spots on the inside of the plastic sheath ( begin bummer music), so I photoed it and continued unpacking. While I was a bit surprised to see a 5 inch dual bay resviour, I noticed one bay more than half empty. After taking the sides off and removing the foam packing, all appeared dry! Hard drive cages were out of their tracks but we were able to replace and hook up the cables for the HDD. On the back side a plastic houseing for some cables, I don't know what for, was tacked to the back of the thermal block of the cpu. Since it was only loosly adheared, I moved it off the cpu back plate to a spot off to the side. A final visual and we were ready to plug in and power on! All appears well, except fluid in the right bay is 15 mm from dry. I started copying data from the 27"iMac and marveled at the brightness of the Dell u3014. I called DS customer service to ask for some additional cooling fluid, and a nice young lady said some would be sent, it is easy to put in. After running for about 90 min, the res dropped an additional 3mm and steamy fog developed in the resivour. . Then I noticed the top had 5 fans, only four were working! Shut down, pull sides, fan cable goes nowhere . Now I am getting angry. We paid a lot for top boutique assembly. If I have to reverse engineer this thing there will one unhappy customer.
So on the plus side: Top notch presentation. Super secure packing and accessories. Machine (when working) kicks booty. Very fast and very very quiet. Wouldn't wake a baby. Negatives: There is a combination of compression fittings and worm drive clamps, that look frankly low class and ugly to boot. I am assuming that one of these clamps was over tightened and is weeping coolant. The unit is unusable due to low coolant level. (Unless you want me to fry two Titans)! The second radiator is on the back of the unit. While this is your decision as the integrator, I would have put it on the CPU side. Looks a lot better. Whatever, at this point I would say grrrr, ok.. The build is not as clean and well thought out as I would have expected for the amount I paid. Looks amateurish. Almost as though it was "use whatever is available" as to planning the cooling and fan controls that are bar none. I have photos to post, I will admit I am a terrible photographer. Will put them up in a couple of hours as I have chores that won't wait any longer. Sorry for the let down on the post, but I am trying to be patient when we hear back on Monday, I will let you know of the outcome. |

Sorry to hear that Xero.
I had been following along your progress as you would post. Hopefully you can get everything sorted out on Monday. Did your system have to travel far from California? Mine will be going to Wisconsin when it ships |

Subxero,
Sorry to hear about your issue with your pc. DS will do anything in their power to fix the problems. I too spent alot on my custom Hailstorm, and when it was delivered to my surprise one of my GTX 680's was faulty. How that happened who knows, but DS fixed it right away without any issues. Good Luck and looking for pics and a good review when DS repairs it. |

@Subxero,
It definitely is a bummer when you anxiously wait for your new system and it arrives not in tip-top condition. We always strive to take as many measures as possible to prevent such issues from occurring, but shipping shocks and vibrations can cause all sorts of problems. Out of the very small amount of customers that receive a system in condition such as yours, I assure you that we're here to take care of our customers. Your system never left our facility in that condition. My guess is that a fitting became loose during shipping and caused water to leak. Such things are rare, but can occur with high-end liquid cooled configurations. The best situation here is most likely for our team to have it come back to our facility so we can review what happened, replace all internal components that may have been affected, and re-test and ensure it does not occur for your again. It will definitely be a high priority for us. Feel free to also send an email to: [email protected] with some photos and your order details. |

Sorry to hear of the issues. Shipping jolts can play havoc with high end systems like yours. The fan not hooked up is probably a DS mis-step but no way it left with leaks and card cage dislodged. DS will work hard to correct any issues you have. Its not a good situation for you, and any of us would feel disappointed but give them a chance.
Best of luck. |

I'm sure your system will arrive fine, like Alex said sometimes things do happen in shipping but not always. Your system could turn out fine, you never know. Try not to worry too much. Edited by ArkansasWoman777 - 06 Jul 2013 at 9:14pm |

Subxero, I had to mess with my system too it's not just you! Rad was on the outside? Did you get the Corsair 900d case? It has enough room for my 2 rads to fit internally. As far as the coolant, I would check to see what DS uses and pickup some locally or backup just in case. Very easy to refill and if you want pick up some dye and give your system a spice! =) FrozenCPU has everything! Don't be discouraged though my fingers are raw and sliced up messing with my system all night and day lol. POST PICS! Wanna see how it looks bud!

There definitely was no radiator on the outside as the Corsair 900D has plenty of internal mounts, perhaps a misunderstanding by Subxero.
Nevertheless, we're here to take care of our customers and the situation, rest assured we can take care of it all for you. Just get in touch with our team. I recommend sending an email to [email protected] to start things off with attached photos and your order details. |

UV light in the dual res blocks some of the light but this is the dual XSPC with pumps. the right side was low, and seemed to be getting lower. I can't see any leaks, but after 90 min. it was real close to the intake tube and generating steam in the tank.

tju76- I see at the very least a 360 & a 480, as opposed to a 240 and 480. They have been very busy with tech support calls and I am queued for Monday sometime. I have been waiting since April for the case, seems like it was a bit rushed. It happens.

As someone who just about ready to order my own system, it truly makes me sad to see this happen to fellow gamer/owner. As seeing the good reviews from other owner's that had issues when getting their new machine, I'm sure you are in good hands. |

HyDRO- The reservoir picture has been posted. It is that big blue monstrosity. It is a XSPC Acrylic Twin DDC Dual bay. The pumps are Swifttec MCP35x. The 4 pin connectors were tied off, unhooked allowing the pump to run at it's max speed of 4500 rpm. The UV light in the pump gives it that blue cast. You can see the separate bays as the right is less than half full. The right reservoir started to fill with vapor so I shut the system down. I have been trying to keep a happy outlook and post only pics that are complimentary to DS. I am hoping for a satisfactory outcome next week. Maybe it's just my luck. Ordered in April and still can't use it.

If your not happy with your purchase then don't post anything on there forum because all you seem to do if you look at your posts is flame anything DS does. I'm done with this conversation and will not reply to get a rise out of such a Tool as yourself. I don't care how long you been here you hurt the image of this company with your gibberish slander...
