New Hailstorm II Rig arrived ragged

I got my Hailstorm II finally July 3. I had to wait to open it as it was way too big and heavy for me to do alone. So finally opened it on July 4, to see what we thought was a awesome system. Before stripping off the plastic bag, we noticed wet spots on the inside of the plastic sheath ( begin bummer music), so I photoed it and continued unpacking. While I was a bit surprised to see a 5 inch dual bay resviour, I noticed one bay more than half empty. After taking the sides off and removing the foam packing, all appeared dry! Hard drive cages were out of their tracks but we were able to replace and hook up the cables for the HDD. On the back side a plastic houseing for some cables, I don't know what for, was tacked to the back of the thermal block of the cpu. Since it was only loosly adheared, I moved it off the cpu back plate to a spot off to the side. A final visual and we were ready to plug in and power on! All appears well, except fluid in the right bay is 15 mm from dry. I started copying data from the 27"iMac and marveled at the brightness of the Dell u3014. I called DS customer service to ask for some additional cooling fluid, and a nice young lady said some would be sent, it is easy to put in. After running for about 90 min, the res dropped an additional 3mm and steamy fog developed in the resivour. . Then I noticed the top had 5 fans, only four were working! Shut down, pull sides, fan cable goes nowhere . Now I am getting angry. We paid a lot for top boutique assembly. If I have to reverse engineer this thing there will one unhappy customer.

So on the plus side:
Top notch presentation. Super secure packing and accessories.
Machine (when working) kicks booty. Very fast and very very quiet. Wouldn't wake a baby.

Negatives:
There is a combination of compression fittings and worm drive clamps, that look frankly low class and ugly to boot. I am assuming that one of these clamps was over tightened and is weeping coolant. The unit is unusable due to low coolant level. (Unless you want me to fry two Titans)!

The second radiator is on the back of the unit. While this is your decision as the integrator, I would have put it on the CPU side. Looks a lot better. Whatever, at this point I would say grrrr, ok..

The build is not as clean and well thought out as I would have expected for the amount I paid. Looks amateurish. Almost as though it was "use whatever is available" as to planning the cooling and fan controls that are bar none.

I have photos to post, I will admit I am a terrible photographer. Will put them up in a couple of hours as I have chores that won't wait any longer. Sorry for the let down on the post, but I am trying to be patient when we hear back on Monday, I will let you know of the outcome.

I hope it all gets fixed up once DS opens on Monday. I feel like they will make it right for you.

It definitely is a bummer when you anxiously wait for your new system and it arrives not in tip-top condition. We always strive to take as many measures as possible to prevent such issues from occurring, but shipping shocks and vibrations can cause all sorts of problems.

Out of the very small amount of customers that receive a system in condition such as yours, I assure you that we're here to take care of our customers. Your system never left our facility in that condition. My guess is that a fitting became loose during shipping and caused water to leak. Such things are rare, but can occur with high-end liquid cooled configurations.

The best situation here is most likely for our team to have it come back to our facility so we can review what happened, replace all internal components that may have been affected, and re-test and ensure it does not occur for your again.

Subxero nooooooo!!!! I'm so sorry to hear about your system man! I just put up my review with pictures and set it all up yesterday/today. Check out what I reviewed to see if there is anything I can help you out with. I had alot of problems however fixed them I like tinkering!

I am looking forward to addressing the issues with DS higher ups. I will send them some pictures to show the problems. I have great faith that all will be taken care of with alacrity and tenacity. Thanks for all your support.

I'm sure your system will arrive fine, like Alex said sometimes things do happen in shipping but not always. Your system could turn out fine, you never know. Try not to worry too much.

There definitely was no radiator on the outside as the Corsair 900D has plenty of internal mounts, perhaps a misunderstanding by Subxero.

Also what type of desk is that? I am in the market for a new computer desk...will that desk support the weight of the tower on top?

As someone who just about ready to order my own system, it truly makes me sad to see this happen to fellow gamer/owner. As seeing the good reviews from other owner's that had issues when getting their new machine, I'm sure you are in good hands.

lol your a tool is all you are tju76. You said prove it was quiet so i did. Then the little boy you are you could not even man up and say "yeah thats quiet" no you just ignored the entire subject. Stay in school you have a lot to learn. It was not a flame it was showing how cowardly some can be. You do not want to pick a war with me i will let you know that right now.

If your not happy with your purchase then don't post anything on there forum because all you seem to do if you look at your posts is flame anything DS does.
