Budget:
$1200

Expectations:
To last as many years as possible, if possible. I know that's tough to do given my budget, but hey I gotta try. I have no interest in overclocking - I just don't get that intense with whatever I'm running. I won't be doing dual video cards either. I've no problems with popping in a new video card in a year or more to keep the rig's life going.

Usage:
For gaming, mostly MMOs, nothing I think is too heavy. I play WoW and will also mess with Rift when it comes out, hopefully on its best settings. I would love for the computer to handle Dragon Age 2 well enough to justify the PC version over the PS3, but I don't know with my computer budget.

Special Needs:
1.I don't get to pony up the cash for a new system very often, or get wife approval :D, so picking something as long lasting as I can is important.

2.The computer needs to be very low noise. We have a light sleeping infant in the house and roaring fans would be bad news :)

IMO, this rig would hit a little overbudget, but would likely give you a lot more bang for the buck in terms of performance compared to an AMD rig.

ablahblah's build is more powerful, however you need to change the psu to a 750w corsair.
