Budget:
Looking without a particular budget in mind. I just don't want to toss money at a PC to be sure it's good enough.

Expectations:
This may be a bit contradictory but I am looking to build a BF3 ultra graphics settings machine, as cheaply as possible.
To prevent the contradiction, I don't expect this to be cheap. I just don't want to over shoot my mark by tons of money.

Usage: As stated before. BF3 on ultra settings. This is *hopefully*
without horrible drops in frames per second or any other thing that would affect the playability

Additional note: This is only concerning the computer it's self. Not the monitor, keyboard or any other thing along those lines.

I greatly appreciate any help on this subject. I am fairly hardware illiterate as it's been a long time since I've even had to think about a video card, or ram ect.

Thank you again.

And Just for examples sake I will assume the rig to be running 1920 x 1080 monitor, same as one linked to in another post.. I would simply link the same, but the site won't let me due to some spam protection.

Hi idylehandz......Welcome to the DS forums.

There's two ways to go to game on the 23/24" monitor at 1920x1080 resolution, with BF 3 on Ultra settings with great fps...., pre-built and custom.

The ODE lvl 4 is a great system with SSD, blu-ray player. a nice case for cooling and the sli, 2x gtx 670 video cards.  For $2499, this rig is impossible to beat.

If you want a custom build with very similar gaming performance, but a better case, motherboard, power supply with 7 year warranty and an air cooler, the Noctua D14 for the cpu for great relaibility, then here's a config to check out .

This config will give you the same gaming, but is another $500 because it is custom, and some of the parts are more money for better quality.

With a custom build you can tweek the parts to fit the budget.  For example, if you want a smaller SSD or no SSD at all ,then there's money saved from what I put in.   If you don't care about a mobo with built-in WiFi, then the Sabertooth mobo for $48 less is an option.  You can save another $130 by going to a cheaper 800W psu like in the ODE 4 that will work but doesn't give you the headroom for expansion, etc.

Like I always say, it's all depends on budget and your own expectations.

See what you think and best of luck.Big%20SmileBig%20Smile

I've seen quite a bit of posting from you here on the forums. Thank you much for such a prompt and easy to understand reply.

This will be incredibly helpful when it comes time for me to get the pc. And now I have a approximate cost to save to.

Thank you again!
