Hey People, I’m in the market for a new laptop before I deploy. Money isn’t an issue, although I would like to keep it around the $2500 price range. I need something with a solid build and that can play the hell out of videogames without breaking a sweat. Ideal would be playing Final Fantasy 14 on or near to max settings. Any suggestions on builds or with what laptop to go with would be much appreciated!

Hello,
I just ordered one and it is about what you described:
System Configuration:
Chassis: Digital Storm x15 8690T-8 (Weight: 7.38 LBS) Display: 15.6 inch HD+ LED Display with Enhanced Super Glossy Surface (Resolution: 1920 x 1080) Processor: Intel Core i7-740QM 1.73GHz (6MB Cache) (Quad Core) System Memory: 8GB DDR3 at 1333MHz (Extreme-Performance) (NOTE: Requires i7-720QM or Higher Processor) Inputs: Gigabit Ethernet LAN / Card Reader / eSATA Main Storage: 2x (500GB Solid State Hybrid (By: Seagate) (7200 RPM) (Model: ST950052620ASI) Optical Drive: 6x Blu-Ray Reader Multi-Drive (Writes DVDs & CDs, Reads Blu-Ray, DVDs, CDs) Wireless Access: 802.11 A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module Features: Integrated Video Camera / Bluetooth Outputs: HDMI 1080P / DVI Port / SPDIF Audio / Headphone / Microphone Video Card(s): NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M 1.5GB Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Install/Test Game: FREE: Hot-selling game with a NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 or above graphics card Carry Bag: Standard Carrying Bag Full Warranty: 3 Year Platinum Care Labor & 1 Year Parts Warranty Grand Total: $2,495.00 (this is with shipping to APO) However the x15 can only have 1 HDD, I just had to bump mine up to the x17 to be able to put 2 in... But it only added $150 to the order. I reckon you will be lugging this thing around everyday like I will be, the x17 is only 1 pound heavier... I deffinatly recomend a good laptop backpack. I have my old Alienware one that I will be using, but I highly suggest a backpack designed for a gaming laptop. Will protect you pc during travel and will be alot easier on your back...
I'm in Iraq now, it is freezing here : (... I hate cold weather. Never been to Afghan, heard it gets alot colder there... Keep warm and good luck! Edited by BeastBubba - 14 Dec 2010 at 6:47pm |
