I would personally hold off on the Graphics card OC since that is easily done with MSI afterburner and such. As far as the processor goes, if this is just a gaming PC the 9600k might be a better choice to save some money and hopefully have better thermals with the IHS being soldered since the 8th gens were known to run a bit hot when being OC'd.

SnowandSand raises some interesting options. I, too am not a big fan of overclocking video cards, the results in performance just aren't that great. You don't mention if you'd like some help with your budget. The i7 8086 is not a problem on that cooler, but the i5 9600K would be powerful enough with the bonuses of running cooler at a decent savings.

It would be helpful if you told us what resolution your son's monitor is. That determines the video power you'll need. Assuming you have determined that, I'd point out that your motherboard choice is a bit of overkill for the rest of your build. I would strongly encourage you to change to the MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon which would free up the needed cash for the Samsung 970 Pro NVMe for your primary drive. It is many times faster than the DS M.2 which uses the SATA bus. The difference there will be something that enhances the experience constantly whereas the motherboard difference is something you'd be unlikely to need.

Hope it helps you.
