Hello, I am a new member here and I just received my first digital storm vanquish 5. I'm having trouble with frame stuttering and just weird jittery movement during games like gta 5 and farcry 3. I bought a beast of a computer to avoid these issues. My specs are

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080

16 GB

Microsoft Windows 10 (build 10586), 64-bit

and I have a 144hz benq monitor. For gta 5 ive followed most of the standard advice like turning vsync on but I still get stutter and pop in. On a much simpler game like AC Rogue, I was getting insane amounts of pop in which I never got on my 4 year old card. I reinstalled the drivers already. Never had so much trouble, or maybe I am just noticing more issues due to this huge monitor upgrade? I'm not sure. Any advice?

What is your monitor's resolutions?

On the forums we advise against installing the mcafee.

did you try gsync/freesync? try vsync off and gsync/freesync on.

My monitor doesn't support NVidia's gsync but the resolution is 1440p. I lowered the settings to normal on gta5 and that helped with performance but the cutscenes are nearly unwatchable

Silly question time... is the monitor plugged into the motherboard or the GPU? That is an easy mistake to make.

What Snaike said....

Don't use the monitor ports near the USB and audio ports next to rear fan.   Drop down to video card ports. They might have plastic caps on them that need removing.

Yeah it's plugged in right. I got a few other games working fine, starting to think gta5 is just not as optimized as well as I'd would have hoped. Just surprised to see a video card like the 1080 struggling with an older game. Thanks for the help. I would drop the Resolution down to 1080p but it looks so bad on anything not native.

My only other thought is to go to Steam, assuming its a Steam download, right click it, Properties, Local Files and hit Verify Files.  That has fixed several weird issues with Steam games.

@bpratt22, check another game fixed. Had startup issues with Civ V after a brownout some time ago and your solution worked. Hope it works for scotthedge12 also.Big%20Smile
