190.38_desktop_winxp_32bit_english_whql.exe

after installing the new update
from the previous (Version: 186.18)

it prompted to reboot
so i did and something strange
happened right before you usually login
this appeared, so i had to force off my machine
and then turn back on, it did the same thing.
so i went into safe mode and booted from last
known good configuration that worked option
and everything was fine, i checked to see if it
installed but only the old 186.18

any ideas to what this is?
or what caused it?

Here's a good ol trick.  Turn off your monitor when you see that and turn it back on.  It should reset back to a normal appearance.  Whenever I turn on my computer very small chance it goes on a fritz visually (though no where near looking like that admittingly)

Anyways did you initially uninstall the previous driver before installing?

yeah i tried turning it off and back on, still the same.

although i don't really care because this computer is old
and not from DS, i'll be ordering mine in about a month.
this is an office computer.

however when i  simply went to restart with last known good config
everything was fine...i didnt uninstall the previous one, maybe ill try that.
then try reinstalling the new update.

always uninstall the previous drivers, reboot, then install new drivers, then reboot.

if after that you still get he same thing, then the 190 drivers are not compatible with the other drivers/software/services you have on your PC, this happens from time to time, just keep using the 186 till the next version comes out.

Just installed that driver, and had no glitches.  Is your GPU (.... office computer you say?) compatible?

i had the same problem, with 5 out of 14computers
at my office, except mine booted and i was
able to login, but after login i got something like that.

i fixed this by uninstalling all of the nvidea drivers on my computer
i have like 3 old ones then installed the new update and everything
worked perfectly, try that. it should fix everything.
