The 55-nm built GT206 GPU will replace the GTX 260 in the second half of Q4.
The 40-nm built GT212 GPU will replace the GTX 280 in Q1 of 2009. http://tcmagazine.com |

Seems like a short run time for those cards.

Will be for the new ones also. They sure seem to waste alot of money putting out cards they intend to replace 3 months later. Do they really make money serving up new products with little tweaks every couple of months?

Somehow I guess my friend wasn't kidding when he stated "New hardware always comes out every 4 months."
Still if the nm decreases.... and that is quite the large decrease for the GT212, then that means less heat, better cooling etc etc. |

It also depends on how you look at it. Most of the components in my system that would be considered outdated here or to any sort of gaming rig company haven't even gotten close to mainline components in mass produced computers. So, I always think about that when all the new pieces of hardware come out.
