So since I got all my new cooling I've been digging back into the BIOS settings to see what I could squeeze out of this beast. My first attempts were based on Keep It Simple Stupid, or the KISS rule. I just slowly pushed up my FSB until i couldnt get a stable PCMark, this landed me a little better benchmarks, but I wasnt impressed. I pretty much maxed out at 3555, no temperature problems, I just couldnt get stable over 395 FSB, granted: I did not go over 1.5 vcore. The results were decent but the margin wasnt enough for me. I read a little about the 8x multi concept with the q6600 and how good it was for your RAM... never paid too much attention to it. I read enough comments that the difference wasnt substantial to believe it. Lucky for me, I am unable to leave well enough alone, so I tried it anyway. I'll let the results speak for themselves.Basically I ended up drastically increasing my RAMs speed, lowering the latency, and lowering the power draw of everything.
Idle temps are:
35 35 31 31
please note that its 2 am as i write this, forgive any obvious mistakes or important info left out... the red text in this first pic should be "440"

Nice job. Here's where I currently stand on my own Q6600.
About 10min in on a Prime test, temps rises quickly. I'm on water |

Nice guys. I haven't touched mine after finding 100% stable settings for 3.15Ghz. Going faster doesn't seem to do anything for game performance, so I leave well enough alone at this point. Besides, I'm a giant chicken when it comes to high temps.

new thing that i was troubleshooting is that regaurdless off all the passed stress tests, i noticed that extended idle times would cause the computer to freeze up, sound loop and all... i bumped the voltage up to .48 and it seems to have fixed the problem.
i still cant believe im seeing 62C load temps with this set up, i havent yet gone over 1.5 to try and get that 400x9 but im really tempted to
i just have to keep repeating "not worth it" lol
